The Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils needed a shootout to decide their game on Tuesday night, and it got off to an interesting start.

As Boston's Tyler Seguin opened the tiebreaking skills challenge, his attempt was interrupted by a piece of garbage (Perhaps a banana peel? Or maybe it was a hot dog?) thrown from the stands. Seguin scored on his attempt, but the referees made him take his shot again because of the fan interference.

And he scored that time, too.

Here's the video of the entire shootout, with Seguin's shot (and the garbage) leading it off.

I'm assuming the target was Devils goalie Johan Hedberg given that the game was in Boston. But, man, that's certainly a new one.

The fan, whom I will point out is a complete moron for throwing garbage on the ice, was lucky that Seguin not only scored on his redo but that the Bruins also won the shootout and the game.
