Texans' Davis Mills: Leads fourth-quarter comeback
Mills completed 27 of 45 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 36-29 win over the Jaguars. He added 20 rushing yards and a TD on three carries.
Making his first start of the season with C.J. Stroud (concussion) unavailable, Mills struggled through three quarters before coming to life in the fourth, hitting Jayden Higgins and Dalton Schultz for TDs before running in a 14-yard score of his own to complete a stunning comeback from a 29-10 deficit. Mills could return to the bench in Week 11 against the Titans if Stroud gets cleared to return, but if he gets a second start he likely won't need to be quite as busy.

Texans' Davis Mills: Set for Week 10 start
Mills is slated to start Sunday's game against the Jaguars after Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Wednesday that C.J. Stroud (concussion) "will be out," Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Mills entered Houston's 18-15 loss to the Broncos in Week 9 early in the second quarter in relief of Stroud. He finished with an unimpressive line, completing just 17 of 30 passes for 137 yards while rushing twice for seven yards. With Stroud in line to miss at least one more game while working to gain clearance from the concussion protocol, expect the Texans to lean on the strength of their defense and task Mills to hold down the fort as a game manager versus Jacksonville. Mills is on the fantasy radar only as a streamer in deeper formats that allow multiple quarterbacks to be started.

Texans' Davis Mills: Called on in relief Sunday
Mills completed 17 of 30 passes for 137 yards in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Broncos. He added seven rushing yards on two carries.
C.J. Stroud was knocked out of the game early in the second quarter and was diagnosed with a concussion, leaving the offense in the hands of Mills for the rest of the afternoon. The fifth-year quarterback led the Texans to four scoring drives but wasn't able to get the ball into the end zone, and the lack of touchdowns proved costly in the end. If Stroud isn't able to clear concussion protocol in time to return in Week 10 against the Jaguars, Mills would get his first start of the season.

Texans' Davis Mills: Receives one-year extension
Mills and the Texans agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $7 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Mills had been ticketed for free agency next spring, but for the second September in a row, the Texans have given him some extra security in the form of a one-year extension. The $7 million deal is fully guaranteed, which should ensure that Mills faces no real competition for the No. 2 role heading into 2026. He'll be entering his third straight season as C.J. Stroud's backup and won't be in line for anything more than spot duty so long as Stroud is healthy. Through his first two NFL seasons, Stroud has missed just two games, with both absences coming late in his rookie campaign while he recovered from a concussion.
