Pierce announced his retirement Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Pierce played eight seasons as a pro after Baltimore signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Samford in 2016. He earned a reputation as a stout run stopper and now finishes his career having played in 99 games, totaling 238 tackles (136 solo) and 9.5 sacks.... See More ... See Less

Ravens' Michael Pierce: Makes 11 appearances in 2024
Pierce tallied 19 tackles (six solo), including 2.0 sacks, across 11 regular-season appearances (one start) in 2024. He also had two passes defensed, including one interception. Pierce handled a consistent rotational role on defense for Baltimore when healthy, though a calf injury forced him to spend five games on IR. The 32-year-old veteran has one more year remaining in his deal with Baltimore.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Returning to action Week 15
Pierce (calf) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants. Pierce will return to action after missing Baltimore's past five contests. The veteran nose tackle was playing in a rotational role prior to getting hurt, topping out at 42 percent of the Ravens' defensive snaps Week 7 against Tampa Bay.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Activated from IR
Pierce (calf) was activated from injured reserve Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants, but he remains questionable to suit up. Pierce missed five games in a row after suffering a calf injury in Week 8 against the Browns, but it seems he's ready to return to the gridiron. He's played in seven games this season, tallying 15 tackles (five solo), 1.0 sacks and one pass defended. If Pierce suits up Sunday, he'll add depth as a nose tackle behind Travis Jones.... Ravens' Michael Pierce: Remaining on IR
Pierce (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Pierce will miss a fifth straight game due to a calf injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Browns. He was designated to return from IR on Wednesday, and although he finished the week strong with a full practice Friday, he hasn't progressed in his recovery enough to return for Sunday's contest. With the Ravens on a bye for Week 14, Pierce's next opportunity to play will be Week 15 against the Giants on Sunday, Dec. 15.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Designated for return
Pierce (calf) was designated to return from injured reserve by Baltimore on Wednesday. Pierce's 21-day practice window is now open after he missed the Ravens' past four games while on injured reserve. The big-bodied nose tackle will further bolster an already strong Ravens run defense once he returns to the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Won't return vs. Cleveland
Pierce (calf) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Browns. With Pierce and Brent Urban (concussion) sidelined for the rest of Sunday's contest, the Ravens' defensive front is down to Travis Jones, Nnamdi Madubuike and Broderick Washington.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Good to go for Week 5
Pierce (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Pierce was inactive for the Ravens' Week 4 win against the Bills due to a shoulder injury. The extended rest appears to have done the 31-year-old nose tackle some good, and he should be ready to go for Sunday's game against the Bengals. Pierce has tallied seven tackles (three solo), including 0.5 sacks, and one pass defended across three regular-season games.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Doubtful for Sunday
Pierce (shoulder) has been downgraded to doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bills. Pierce appeared to be past his shoulder injury after practicing in full Thursday and Friday, but he's now in jeopardy of missing Sunday night's contest. If Pierce isn't able to suit up in Week 4 as expected, Brent Urban and Broderick Washington are projected to see more work with the Ravens' first-team defensive line.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Inks extension
Pierce and the Ravens agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million extension Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. The 31-year-old has spent six of his seven years in the NFL with the Ravens, and he'll remain in Baltimore through the 2025 season after inking an extension Saturday. Pierce has been having one of the best seasons of his career thus far, appearing in all 16 of the Ravens' games and recording 36 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, while also deflecting two passes. Expect the 355-pound nose tackle to continue being a major part of Baltimore's run defense for years to come.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Undergoes season-ending surgery
Pierce (biceps) is undergoing season-ending surgery Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Pierce faced a decision between attempting to rehab and return this year or get season-ending surgery, and he's ultimately decided to go under the knife. As a result of getting surgery to address his torn bicep, the nose tackle will now eye a return during the 2023 campaign. Rookie third-round pick Travis Jones will likely start in Pierce's stead versus the Bills on Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Decision ahead
Pierce (biceps) is debating whether to have season-ending surgery, or to rehab and play through the injury according to head coach John Harbaugh, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Pierce suffered a torn bicep in the Ravens' Week 3 win over the Patriots. He was scheduled to undergo further testing Wednesday, which will likely aid him in making that decision. If Pierce opts to rehab and play though the injury, it is unclear how much time, if any, he'll miss.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Dealing with biceps injury
Pierce suffered a biceps tear in Sunday's win over the Patriots, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Pierce was forced out of the Ravens' Week 3 win over the Patriots early with an arm injury, but it has now been determined to be a biceps tear. It's unclear whether the injury will sideline him for the remainder of the season, but he is undergoing additional testing Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Questionable to return Sunday
Pierce (arm) is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Pierce sustained a left arm injury at some point during the first half against New England. With the 29-year-old defensive tackle sidelined, expect rookie Travis Jones to step in on the interior of Baltimore's defense.... See More ... See Less -
Vikings' Michael Pierce: Puts in limited practice
Pierce (elbow) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice. Pierce has been sidelined since Week 4 by the elbow injury, but he was able to participate at Wednesday's practice. The veteran defensive tackle may need to advance to full participation to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game at Baltimore.... See More ... See Less -
Vikings' Michael Pierce: Doubtful to return
Pierce is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Browns due to an elbow injury, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Pierce dealt with an elbow injury heading into Sunday's contest but was ultimately able to suit up. However, the issue apparently flared up and could keep him out for the remainder of the game. If the defensive tackle is unable to return, Armon Watts and Sheldon Richardson should see increased work.... See More ... See Less -
Vikings' Michael Pierce: Heads north to Minnesota
Pierce and the Vikings agreed Wednesday on a three-year deal worth $27 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Pierce played all but two games for the Ravens in 2019, recording 35 tackles (19 solo), a half sack and one fumble recovery. The 27-year-old should get the chance to win a starting role on the defensive line for the Vikings in 2020 following the departures of Linval Joseph, Stephen Weatherly and Everson Griffen.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Musters 35 stops in 2019
Pierce recorded 35 tackles (19 solo), a half-sack and one recovered fumble across 14 regular-season games in 2019. Pierce missed two contests with an ankle injury in 2019, but he otherwise reliably drew the start at nose tackle for Baltimore. The 27-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Chance to return Week 13
Pierce (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the 49ers, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Pierce missed the last two games with the ankle issue, but he practiced fully Friday and appears likely to return this week. The 27-year-old should reclaim his starting role against the 49ers, assuming he suits up.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Michael Pierce: Unlikely to play Monday
Pierce (ankle) will be listed as doubtful ahead of Monday's contest against the Rams and is not expected to play, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. The report comes directly from head coach John Harbaugh, so it seems safe to assume the nose tackle is unlikely to play. Pierce is considered one of the better run-stopping defensive linemen in the entire NFL, so his loss could open additional opportunities for the Rams' rushing attack, although Domata Peko and Brandon Williams are expected to fill the void capably....
