The New Orleans Saints have a hole in the middle of their offensive line. As of this moment, they're slated to start either Tim Lelito or Senio Kelemete at left guard.

That's not a great duo from which to be choosing, and so they are interested in pursuing a trade for Dallas Cowboys guard Ronald Leary, according to a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Leary started at left guard for the Cowboys during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, as well as the first five weeks of the 2015 season. He then lost his job to La'el Collins, a rookie that the Cowboys signed as an undrafted free agent but who was projected as an early first-round pick before his draft prospects were derailed due to the death of his ex-girlfriend mere days before the draft (he was never considered a suspect in the case but police had not yet talked to him at the time of the draft).

Collins is expected to start at that spot for the foreseeable future, so Leary is now a backup. He requested a trade earlier this offseason, but the Cowboys have yet to find an agreeable deal.

During the 2013 and 2014 seasons (especially 2014), Leary played extremely well, especially in the running game. He's a very athletic lineman that can get out in space while pulling on power runs, and he's shown the ability to pass-protect at an above-average level as well.

Leary was an undrafted free agent himself in 2012, though he likely would have been drafted had it not been discovered that he suffers from a degenerative knee condition known as osteochondritis dissecans, which could potentially shorten his career. He's still 27 years old though, so it's possible he has a few years of high-level play left.

In terms of a potential trade return, the Cowboys have needs at backup quarterback and pass-rusher. The Saints could also send a draft pick to Dallas for Leary, which they could then reroute to another team to help fill one or both of those needs.
