With a 1-8 record, the Jaguars might try out some no-huddle offense.. (US Presswire)

Anything different is a good idea when a team starts a season 1-8. The Jaguars are exploring their options for improving their offense down the stretch. Utilizing more of a no-huddle attack could be part of their solution with a game looming against the Houston Texans (8-1) on Sunday.

"We feel confidence in it -- we can move the ball, we can throw it around, run it and we’re clicking," WR Laurent Robinson told the Florida Times-Union of the possibility of going no-huddle. "If the coaches choose to go that route, we’ll feel confident and comfortable doing it.”

It wouldn't be a completely new route for the Jaguars struggling offense, which currently checks in dead last in the NFL in total yards per game (263.6).

They've used it in situations this season, but mainly when falling behind or when in need of a quick score at the end of a half.

"It does a couple different things," center Brad Meester told the Florida Times-Union. "It’s obviously a good change-up pace-wise. … Especially up front on the line, we like that to get the offense going. Last week, it was working so well, you keep going with it."

Injury update: RB Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) is expected to miss a fourth straight game when the Jaguars face the Texans on Sunday. S Dwight Lowery (ankle) and CB Rashean Mathis (groin) have both been limited in practice this week, but each has a chance to play this week.

QB Blaine Gabbert has yet to miss any starts, but he has been knocked out of two of the last four games with a shoulder injury. He's expected to start again this week despite not finishing last week's game against the Colts.

Roster moves: The Jaguars made some minor roster moves earlier in the week. They signed LB Greg Jones, who started five games for the New York Giants in 2011. They now have five LBs on the roster after playing the last few weeks with just four.

WR Anthony Armstrong, who was signed on Oct. 31, but has not been active for any games yet, was released to make room for Jones.
