  • John Henson: Time in New York over

The Knicks aren't expected to retain Henson (calf) after his 10-day contract expired Thursday, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports. New York brought in Henson on April 5 to provide depth at center after Mitchell Robinson underwent foot surgery, but the 30-year-old never got the chance to debut for the Knicks. He suffered a right calf strain in his second day practicing with the team and been ruled out ahead of four straight games with the injury. The Knicks could revisit re-signing Henson once he recovers from the calf injury, but the team is presumably more interested in bringing in a healthy player to fill the final opening on its roster for the time being.

  • Knicks' John Henson: Out Wednesday

Henson (calf) is out Wednesday against the Pelicans. A strained calf will prevent Henson from making his Knicks debut. He's on a 10-day contract, so his chances are running out.

  • Knicks' John Henson: Out again

Henson (calf) will not play Monday against the Lakers. Henson signed with the Knicks last week but immediately picked up a strained calf which will now keep him out of a fourth consecutive game. When healthy, Henson will provide depth up front, but he almost certainly won't be fantasy relevant.

  • Knicks' John Henson: Out Sunday

Henson (calf) won't play Sunday against the Raptors. A right calf strain will prevent Henson from making his Knicks debut again. His next chance to play is Monday against the Lakers.

  • Knicks' John Henson: Debut delayed again

Henson (calf) is out for Friday's game against the Grizzlies. Henson signed a 10-day contract with the Knicks on Monday, but he's been forced to miss both the team's contests since then. His next chance to debut with the team will come Sunday versus the Raptors.

  • Knicks' John Henson: Won't debut Wednesday

Henson will not play Wednesday against the Celtics, Alder Almo of Empire Sports Media reports. Henson signed a 10-day deal with the Knicks on Monday, but he's not yet available to take the court. Once he's ready to play, he's only expected to be a depth option at center.

  • Knicks' John Henson: Signs 10-day with Knicks

Henson signed a 10-day contract with the Knicks on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The veteran big man split last season between the Pistons and Cavaliers but has not appeared in an NBA game in 2020-21. He'll provide depth at center for a Knicks team that's without Mitchell Robinson (foot) for several more weeks, but with Nerlens Noel, Taj Gibson and Norvel Pelle on the roster, Henson's role will likely be quite limited.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Out 'about a week'

Henson (ankle) is expected to miss roughly a week due to a sprained ankle, Rod Beard of the Detroit News reports. Henson had started the last six games at center, but he'll likely cede the position to Thon Maker for the next two games. Looking ahead, the Pistons play Wednesday and Saturday of this week, so Henson figures to miss both of those contests before a potential return next Tuesday (March 17) against Orlando or next Friday (March 20) against Golden State.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Decent line in 22 minutes

Henson produced 10 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in 22 minutes during Sunday's 106-100 loss to the Kings. Henson drew the start alongside Christian Wood (foot) with Thon Maker (ankle) sidelined. Furthermore, Henson chipped in across every category except threes and has earned at least 20 minutes in three of the last four outings. Maker may be able to return for Wednesday's tilt against the Thunder, but Henson may be in line for another serving of 20-plus minutes regardless.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Enters starting five

Henson is starting Tuesday's game at Denver, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Henson delivered eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks off the bench during Sunday's loss to the Trail Blazers, and he'll make his way into the starting five Tuesday. His 23 minutes in that game was his highest total since being acquired by the Pistons in early February, so he could be set for a similar workload against the Nuggets.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Delivers quality line off bench

Henson finished with eight points (3-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks across 23 minutes Sunday in the Pistons' 107-104 loss to the Trail Blazers. Henson saw his most extensive playing time to date since being acquired by the Pistons earlier this month, but this quality showing off the bench won't necessarily earn him consistent run moving forward. As a 29-year-old whose contract is set to expire this summer, Henson may not be prioritized over Thon Maker. Though Maker -- an impending restricted free agent -- isn't necessarily part of the Pistons' long-term plans, he's at least six years younger and offers more theoretical upside at this stage of his career than Henson does.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Protects rim in loss

Henson finished with seven points (3-4 FG, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and three blocks across 17 minutes off the bench Monday in the Pistons' 87-76 loss to the Hornets. There were few quality statistical lines on a night in which both teams shot worse than 40 percent from the field, but Henson's efficiency, rebounding and shot blocking were enough for him to pay off for those that streamed him. Henson could gradually eat into starting center Thon Maker's playing time, but until then, he'll remain more of an option in 14-team leagues or deeper while he's seeing under 20 minutes.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Efficient in team debut

Henson played 18 minutes off the bench and contributed 12 points (6-6 FG), four rebounds, one assist and one steal Saturday in the Pistons' 95-92 loss to the Knicks. Making his team debut after coming over from the Cavaliers in Thursday's trade that sent Andre Drummond to Cleveland, Henson immediately seized a spot in Detroit's frontcourt rotation. Coach Dwane Casey rolled with Thon Maker as the starting center Saturday, but once he has a chance to settle into his new locale, Henson could unseat Maker for the top job or at least handle a larger share of minutes. For now, Henson's fantasy utility is probably best suited for deeper formats rather than 12-team leagues or shallower.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Available Saturday

Henson (not injury related) is available to make his Pistons debut Saturday against the Knicks, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Henson was in the deal that sent Andre Drummond to Cleveland. It's unclear what sort of role Henson will have. He'll be fighting for minutes with Christian Wood and Thon Maker.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Not playing Friday

Henson (not injury related) will not make his Pistons debut Friday against the Thunder, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports. Henson isn't yet with the team. It's unclear if he'll be available Saturday against the Knicks.

  • Pistons' John Henson: Dealt to Pistons

Henson -- along with Brandon Knight and a 2023 second-round pick -- was traded Thursday to the Pistons in exchange for Andre Drummond, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Henson carved out a backup role for the Cavaliers this season, averaging 5.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocks in 14.2 minutes. He'll now join a Pistons squad devoid of true starting talent, and it's possible he'll have the opportunity to grab the starting job. Henson will be competing with the likes of Christian Wood -- possibly the frontrunner -- and Thon Maker. Either way, it seems unlikely Henson is destined for a role of more than 25 minutes on a consistent basis.

  • Cavaliers' John Henson: Double-double in starting role

Henson accumulated 10 points (4-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 109-103 loss to the Thunder. Henson earned a season high minute total and matched season highs in scoring and boards. He filled in well as the starting center in place of Tristan Thompson (quadriceps). However, unless Cleveland moves Thompson at the deadline (and doesn't acquire a more appealing big man than Henson), there's a decent chance Henson returns to his usual reserve role for Sunday's matchup versus the Clippers.

  • Cavaliers' John Henson: Set to start Wednesday

Henson will start Wednesday against the Thunder, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports. Henson will pick up his second start of the season Wednesday with Tristan Thompson (quad) unavailable. In his only other start this season, Henson tallied seven points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one block in 23 minutes. Larry Nance will come off the bench behind Henson.

  • Cavaliers' John Henson: Hands out three dimes in 13 minutes

Henson had three points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three assists and one rebound in 13 minutes during Thursday's 124-112 loss to the Wizards. Henson rejoined the rotation after sitting out the last two games with a back injury. However, he saw the ninth-most minutes for the Cavaliers and has earned at least 20 minutes just once through 22 appearances this season.

  • Cavaliers' John Henson: Active Thursday

Henson (back) will play in Thursday's contest against Washington, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Henson has missed the last two matchups due to an ailing back injury, but nonetheless, the center will return to the floor in time for Thursday's game. Henson is currently averaging just 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21 outings with the Cavaliers this season.
