Player Outlook
Did anyone have Luke Raley stealing more bases in 2023 than Ozzie Albies, Jeremy Pena, or Adolis Garcia? Yea, that really happened. Not bad for a player who was out of options coming into camp and was nearly cut at the end of camp. Raley refused to let that happen, as he continued to hit becoming a more nimble version of Ji-Man Choi for the Rays as someone who could come in and generate offense against righties (133 wRC+, 17 homers) and play both first base and a corner outfield position. Raley is built like a tight end and is yet deceptively quick which is why the club permitted him to attempt 17 steals last season. He does have voluminous swing and miss in his game but is also quite capable of barreling up mistakes to all fields. His role in 2024 should be more of the same but the swing and miss in his game opens the door to more volatility in his outcomes than other players. Set expectations around 375-400 plate appearances, which takes him off mixed league draft plans.

Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. Raley owns an 1.118 OPS since the beginning of May and should continue to see regular playing time versus right-handed pitching while he's wielding a hot bat.

Raley went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday. Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the Twins on Thursday.
