  • Astros' Isaac Paredes: Three-hit game

Paredes went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the White Sox. Paredes has had an interesting start to June. Paredes went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI during Thursday's 8-2 win over the Pirates. Paredes smoked two home runs Thursday to finish the series against the Bucs with three, bringing his season total up to 14. The 26-year-old is slashing .252/.347/.474 with 37 RBI on the season, numbers in line with his 2023 season, when he hit 31 home runs and drove in 98 runs for the Rays. Paredes also didn't strike out in a game for the first time in seven contests, bringing his strikeout rate down to 16.6 percent for the season.

  • Astros' Isaac Paredes: Showing patience at plate

Paredes went 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against the Tigers. Paredes has at least one hit in seven of his last eight games, going 9-for-29 in that span. More impressively, he's managed four walks while striking out only twice in that same sample. Paredes tallied his first triple of the season Tuesday, raising his ISO to .159 across 125 plate appearances for the season.

  • Astros' Isaac Paredes: Gets back on track with solo homer

Paredes went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over Toronto. The infielder followed up a three-game homer streak in mid-April with a 3-for-24 skid with no extra-base hits, but he got back on track Tuesday with a seventh-inning shot to give the Astros a late insurance run. Through his first 100 plate appearances, Paredes is slashing .233/.340/.384 with four long balls, one double, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored. As long as he maintains a spot in the heart of Houston's lineup, Paredes should have plenty of RBI chances going forward.

  • Astros' Isaac Paredes: Goes yard in big win

Paredes went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two walks and a total of three runs scored in Friday's 14-3 win over the Angels. This was Paredes' third multi-hit effort over the last five games. The homer, an eighth-inning solo shot, was his first as an Astro and just his second extra-base hit of the season. After a slow start, Paredes is batting .275 (14-for-51) with a .736 OPS, five RBI, six runs scored and no stolen bases over 60 plate appearances. He's made a home for himself in the No. 2 spot in the lineup and should rack up plenty of counting stats -- aside from steals -- in a strong offense.

  • Astros' Isaac Paredes: Settles with Houston

Paredes agreed to a one-year, $6.625 million contract with the Astros on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Paredes slashed just .223/.325/.307 over 212 plate appearances after being dealt to the Cubs at last year's trade deadline. Despite his poor end to the season, he'll receive a $3.225 million raise from the Astros, who are expected to use the 25-year-old regularly at third base.

  • Astros' Isaac Paredes: Headed to Houston

The Astros acquired Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and Cam Smith from the Cubs on Friday in exchange for Kyle Tucker, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. The Astros reportedly tried to get Paredes at last season's trade deadline, but they've now got their man after his pit stop in Chicago. Paredes slashed a pedestrian .238/.346/.393 with 19 home runs in 2024 between the Rays and Cubs, but his pull-heavy swing is perfect for the Crawford Boxes at his new home park, giving him a good chance to bounce back in the power department in 2025. Currently, Paredes would be in line to play third base for the Astros, at least until he gets pushed by Smith -- the 14th overall pick in the 2024 Draft -- but he could shift over to first base if the club also re-signs Alex Bregman.

The 25-year-old has shown flashes of promise since joining the Cubs via trade in late July, but his performance overall has been disappointing. In 47 games with Chicago, Paredes is batting just .216 with a .634 OPS. He had a .792 OPS in 101 games with Tampa Bay before the trade.
