White Sox's Tim Elko: Sent down to minors
The White Sox optioned Elko to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.
Elko had been working as Chicago's primary first baseman prior to the demotion and slugged four homers with eight RBI and a stolen base over 18 games, though he posted a mediocre .601 OPS and 38.1 percent strikeout rate. His spot on the 26-man roster has been taken by Ryan Noda, who was called up from Charlotte in a corresponding move and could take over as Chicago's top option at first base.

White Sox's Tim Elko: Slugs homer Saturday
Elko went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double Saturday in a 4-1 win against Kansas City.
Elko belted a two-run shot in the second inning to put Chicago in the lead for good. The 26-year-old appears to be settling into a full-time role at first base -- since his promotion from Triple-A on June 4, Elko has made four straight starts at the position, going 3-for-15 with three RBI. Meanwhile, Miguel Vargas, who had been playing first base regularly, has been slotting in at third while Josh Rojas has mostly moved to second base in the wake of Lenyn Sosa's placement on the IL due to a hip injury.

Elko went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Thursday against the Tigers.
Elko has started at first base and hit sixth in two straight games since being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. He has one hit in each contest and provided the game-winning knock in the 10th inning Thursday, though that was also paired with three strikeouts. However, Elko's playing time figured to be impacted by the impending promotion of top prospect Kyle Teel.

White Sox's Tim Elko: Rejoins major-league club
The White Sox recalled Elko from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Elko went just 5-for-31 at the plate during his first stint in the majors, although three of those hits were home runs. The 26-year-old has mashed at Charlotte this season (.984 OPS, 11 home runs) and could receive fairly regular playing time between first base and/or designated hitter after the White Sox placed Lenyn Sosa (hip) on the injured list in a corresponding transaction.

Elko sat the last two games with a righty on the mound, but he returned Saturday against left-hander Matthew Boyd. After getting his first big-league call-up Saturday, Elko had started at first base or designated hitter in each of the White Sox's ensuing four games, going 2-for-14 with a home run and three RBI. The White Sox will likely continue to carve out at least a semi-regular role for Elko in the short term, though he'll still be subject to occasional days off versus right-handed pitching.

Elko went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in Sunday's win against the Marlins.

He's maintained a .339/.423/.661 line across 130 plate appearances with Charlotte this season, earning him his first shot in the majors. White Sox's Tim Elko: Bound for Chicago
The White Sox plan to promote Elko to the major-league roster Saturday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.
With Andrew Vaughn struggling to the tune of a .516 OPS with the big club, the Sox will now look to jumpstart their production at first base by giving Elko a look in the majors. The 26-year-old has been phenomenal at Triple-A Charlotte this season, slashing .339/.423/.661 with 10 homers and 23 RBI through 130 plate appearances. His first appearance will mark his MLB debut, and he could claim the starting job at first base immediately upon arriving in Chicago.

White Sox's Tim Elko: Mashing at Triple-A
Elko is slashing .348/.431/.670 with 10 home runs and a 28.5 percent strikeout rate in 31 games for Triple-A Charlotte.
Elko is a righty-hitting first baseman who is already 26, so it's possible he's just a Quad-A hitter when it's all said and done. His 27.6 percent hard-hit rate and 67 percent contact rate aren't great marks, especially for an older first baseman. Elko is not yet on Chicago's 40-man roster.
