This transaction looks to be entirely due to Booser having minor-league options available and having pitched each of the last three days, as he likely wasn't going to be available for at least a day or two. Booser should be back with the big club soon.

The Red Sox selected Booser's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Booser was off to a fine start at Worcester, holding a 2.70 ERA and 0.65 WHIP across 6.2 innings. The 31-year-old left-hander will provide a fresh bullpen arm and will be making his major-league debut if he gets into a game.

The Red Sox will promote Booser from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Booser has struck out 15 batters and walked just one while posting a 2.70 ERA and 0.65 WHIP across 6.2 innings at Triple-A this season. The 31-year-old southpaw will provide depth to a badly injured Red Sox pitching staff and will be making his MLB debut once he gets into a game.
