The addition of Palacios helps restore some depth to the Chicago outfield after Mike Tauchman (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Palacios has been shelved for the last week with a left hamstring strain. Because his absence has been brief, he would seem to have a chance at being activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Aug. 10.
