White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Not in Saturday's lineup
Palacios is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Royals on Saturday.
Palacios has reached base safely in his last two starts, but he has gone 3-for-24 over his last 11 games. He'll be in the dugout for the start of Saturday's game while Andrew Benintendi, Luis Robert and Mike Tauchman man the outfield for the South Siders.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Scratched Wednesday
Palacios was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Mets.
It's unclear why Palacios was removed from the lineup Wednesday. In his stead, Edgar Quero will step into the DH spot while Mike Tauchman fills Palacios' vacated post in right field.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Goes deep in win
Palacios went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 10-5 victory over the Rangers.
Palacios launched a two-run home run in the fourth inning off Jack Leiter to open the scoring for the White Sox on Saturday. The 29-year-old has struggled to carve out a consistent role in the big leagues but is seeing more action lately after a stellar week at the plate. Over his past seven games, Palacios is slashing .304/.333/.652 with two home runs and five RBI.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Productive series against Mariners
Palacios went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday against the Mariners.
Palacios has served on the large side of a platoon in right field for the White Sox and struggled to just a .218 average across 100 plate appearances. However, he slugged his second home run of the season Wednesday to cap a productive series against the Mariners, during which he went 4-for-10 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI. Both Mike Tauchman (hamstring) and Andrew Benintendi (calf) are on rehab assignments, and Palacios will likely head to a bench role when both are activated.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: On bench against lefty
Palacios is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Palacios will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Reds send another lefty (Nick Lodolo) to the bump. Though he's been holding down a strong-side platoon role in right field lately, Palacios' playing time could soon fall by the wayside. Mike Tauchman (hamstring) and Austin Slater (knee) are both in the midst of rehab assignments and could form the White Sox's preferred platoon arrangement in right field upon their returns from the 10-day injured list.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Taking seat Thursday
Palacios is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers.
Palacios will hit the bench after leading off and starting in right field in six of Chicago's last seven games. The 29-year-old slashed .211/.348/.368 during that stretch, but he may have to settle for a spot lower in the batting order the next time he's included in the lineup. The White Sox activated shortstop Chase Meidroth (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Thursday and immediately installed him into the leadoff spot for the series finale versus Milwaukee.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Cracks leadoff homer
Palacios went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Athletics.
Palacios opened the game's scoring with his first career leadoff homer, slugging it 400 feet off starter Osvaldo Bido. The 29-year-old outfielder has lately been the strong side of a platoon with veteran Michael Taylor since Mike Tauchman (hamstring) is on the injured list. Overall, Palacios is now slashing .222/.317/.306 with four runs scored and three RBI over 41 plate appearances since being called up April 10.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Sitting against lefty

The lefty-hitting Palacios will sit down Saturday against the lefty-throwing Jeffrey Springs. Michael Taylor will start in right field and bat sixth.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Getting another look as leadoff man
Palacios will start in right field and bat leadoff in Thursday's game against the Twins.
Palacios will occupy the leadoff spot for the second game in a row and appears to have at least temporarily supplanted Nick Maton as the White Sox's preferred table-setter versus right-handed pitching. The 29-year-old likely doesn't have much of a leash atop the batting order, however, as he enters Thursday's game with a meager .200/.310/.200 slash line across 29 plate appearances with the big club this season.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Sitting versus righty
Palacios is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Boston.
Palacios has been drawing most of the starts in right field against right-handed pitching of late, but he'll take a seat for this one versus Red Sox righty Walker Buehler. Michael Taylor is in right field and batting eighth for the White Sox.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Settling into strong-side platoon
Palacios went 1-for-3 with a run scored Sunday against the Red Sox.
Palacios was recalled April 10 to replace Mike Tauchman (hamstring) on the roster. The White Sox have faced a right-handed starter only six times across 10 games since, though Palacios has been in the lineup each of the last five times. He's gone only 3-for-19 since being recalled, but he may have the chance to maintain the role until Tauchman can return.

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Receives call-up to majors
The White Sox selected Palacios' contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
The addition of Palacios helps restore some depth to the Chicago outfield after Mike Tauchman (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Andrew Benintendi (adductor) also went on the IL a day earlier, leaving both of Chicago's corner-outfield spots in flux at the moment. The White Sox will likely mix and match at both spots while Benintendi and Tauchman are on the shelf, with Palacios, Austin Slater, Brooks Baldwin, Michael Taylor and Greg Jones all being candidates to see playing time at either outfield position. The 29-year-old Palacios owns a career .230/.286/.364 slash line with 12 home runs and seven steals over 433 plate appearances across parts of four seasons in the big leagues with Toronto, Washington and Pittsburgh.

Palacios recently elected free agency after the Pirates removed him from their 40-man roster and has now found a new home. The 29-year-old outfielder is a career .230/.286/.364 hitter over parts of four major-league seasons.

Joshua Palacios: Hits open market
Palacios elected free agency Monday.
Palacios struggled at the dish during spring training and will seek a fresh start elsewhere after being designated for assignment March 22 and later choosing free agency over an outright assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis. He appeared in 23 games a season ago for the Pirates, hitting .224 with two home runs, nine RBI, one stolen base and 10 runs scored.

Pirates' Joshua Palacios: Clears waivers
Palacios cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Palacios lost his place on the 40-man roster after going 4-for-19 in the Grapefruit League. He'll stay put in the Pirates' farm system after passing through waivers unclaimed and should play regularly at Indianapolis, where he turned in an .867 OPS across 209 plate appearances in 2024.

Pirates' Joshua Palacios: Removed from 40-man roster
Palacios was designated for assignment Saturday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
He was in the mix as a starting outfielder in Pittsburgh entering spring training, but the signing of Tommy Pham hurt Palacios' standing on the roster. He also didn't help his chances by hitting .211 with no extra-base hits across 19 Grapefruit League at-bats.

Pirates' Joshua Palacios: Recalled from Triple-A
The Pirates recalled Palacios from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Palacios has slashed .230/.319/.344 in 20 games with the big club this season. He will likely be used as a reserve down the stretch for the Pirates.

Pirates' Joshua Palacios: Activated and optioned
The Pirates activated Palacios (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Palacios is done with his rehab assignment from a strained left hamstring, but the Pirates have elected to keep him at Indianapolis rather than adding him to the big-league roster. He's put up a .663 OPS in 20 games with Pittsburgh this season.

Pirates' Joshua Palacios: Starting rehab assignment
Palacios (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday at Triple-A Indianapolis, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Palacios has been shelved for the last week with a left hamstring strain. Because his absence has been brief, he would seem to have a chance at being activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Aug. 10. Palacios had been seeing regular reps in right field against right-handers before getting injured, but he could return as a backup following the Pirates' acquisition of Bryan De La Cruz ahead of the trade deadline.
