Guardians' Shane Bieber: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Guardians transferred Bieber (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander continues to rehab from Tommy John surgery and isn't expected to be fully ramped up until the middle of summer, so the IL move won't affect his return timeline. Bieber is expected to begin pitching in simulated games at the Guardians' spring training complex at some point in May, after which a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment is likely to follow.

Guardians' Shane Bieber: Close to pitching in sim games
Bieber (elbow) is expected to begin pitching in simulated games at the Guardians' spring training complex in Arizona at some point in May, SI.com reports.
Though the Guardians haven't officially confirmed as much, Bieber appears to have reached the point in his rehab that he's facing hitters, after he had been limited to throwing bullpen sessions by the end of spring training. The right-hander is working his way back from April 12, 2024 Tommy John surgery and will require an extensive ramp-up period once he's deemed ready for game action in the minors. If he avoids any setbacks, Bieber could be ready to make his 2025 debut for the Guardians around midseason.

The Guardians placed Bieber (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Bieber still has several months left in his rehab from Tommy John surgery, so his move to the L is simply procedural. Assuming he doesn't run into any setbacks, the right-hander should be able to return around midseason.

Bieber (elbow) said Wednesday that he has been throwing from 90 feet three times per week, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Bieber is encouraged by the progress he's made since undergoing Tommy John surgery in April, though he also said "there's a long way to go." The 29-year-old agreed to a one-year deal Friday to remain in Cleveland for 2025, and his rehab is expected to extend a few months into the regular season.

Bieber (elbow) agreed to a one-year, $14 million contract with the Guardians on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Bieber's new deal also includes a $16 million player option for 2026. The 29-year-old righty was dominant in two starts last season, pitching 12 shutout innings while striking out 20 batters and walking one against the A's and Mariners, but his campaign was cut short by Tommy John surgery in mid-April. He's expected to miss the first couple months of the 2025 season while he finishes up his rehab, but the 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner could be a strong fantasy asset once he returns.
