  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Not hitting yet

Santander (shoulder) has yet to resume hitting, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Santander has been on the shelf since late May due to inflammation in his left shoulder. While he's been cleared to throw, he hasn't begun hitting yet. Considering the lengthy layoff, it's likely Santander will need a rehab assignment. If that's the case, Santander shouldn't be expected back until July.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Not ready to swing bat

Santander (shoulder) isn't ready to resume hitting but will begin throwing this week, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Santander has been out of action since landing on the injured list in late May due to left shoulder inflammation. The veteran outfielder received a PRP injection in early June but hasn't yet progressed to a point where the Blue Jays want him to start swinging a bat. With that in mind, Santander's activation doesn't appear to be imminent. At this point, there's not a clear timeline for when he will begin hitting again.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Gets PRP injection in shoulder

Santander will rest for 5-to-7 days after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his injured left shoulder, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports. Santander landed on the 10-day injured list this past Friday with a shoulder injury that had been nagging at him for a while. The hope is that the PRP injection will help speed along the recovery process and that he will be ready to resume throwing and ramping up after a brief shutdown period.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Out with shoulder inflammation

The Blue Jays placed Santander on the 10-day injured list Friday due to left shoulder inflammation. The veteran outfielder has gone 0-for-17 with three walks and seven strikeouts in his past five games, and he'll now be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. Santander has been playing through hip and shoulder issues for most of May, and it's his shoulder that ended up sending him to the IL. Alan Roden was called up from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Santander may get a cortisone shot in the coming days, per Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Reaches base four times

Santander went 2-for-2 with two walks in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay. Santander was not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup for two straight games due to a left hip issue, but he was back out in right field for Saturday's contest. He reached base safely in all four plate appearances but wasn't brought home to score as the Jays' offense was limited to just one run. Santander has struggled at the plate this season but has been more effective since the beginning of May, slashing .245/.344/.377 with two home runs and six RBI in 61 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Back in lineup Saturday

Santander (hip) is starting in right field and batting sixth against the Rays on Saturday. Santander was held out of the Blue Jays' lineup for the past two games due to a lingering left hip issue, but he pinch hit in the ninth inning of Friday's game and is back in right field for Saturday's bout. Santander has slashed .216/.298/.353 with two home runs, six RBI and a 29.8 percent strikeout rate across 57 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Expected back Saturday

Manager John Schneider said Friday that he expects Santander (hip) to be back in the starting lineup Saturday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Santander appeared as a pinch hitter during the ninth inning of Friday's game and drew a walk, which supports the idea that he's healthy enough to play. The 30-year-old hasn't started a game since injuring his hip Wednesday and is slashing .216/.286/.353 across 56 plate appearances since the start of May.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Remains out Friday

Santander (hip) remains out of the lineup for Friday's contest in Tampa Bay. Santander's left hip has bothered him off-and-on over the past week, and this will be his second straight day out of the lineup after he had to exit Wednesday's game versus the Padres. George Springer will be at designated hitter for the Blue Jays on Friday, while Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes will hold down the corner outfield spots.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Absent from Thursday's lineup

Santander (hip) is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Padres. Santander was lifted from Wednesday's 14-0 win after aggravating a left hip injury. The Blue Jays haven't indicated at this point whether Santander might require a trip to the 10-day injured list, but he will need at least a day or two of rest. Daulton Varsho will get a day in the designated-hitter spot, while Myles Straw will patrol center field for the Blue Jays in Thursday's series finale.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Pulled with hip inflammation

Santander was removed from Wednesday's game against the Padres due to left hip inflammation. Santander's hip has been giving him problems for about a week, and he seemingly aggravated the injury during Wednesday's contest. The Jays will take a closer look at him to determine the severity of his latest flare-up, but the team could consider placing him on the IL at this point to give him the time he needs to fully move past the hip issue. For now, however, Santander should be considered day-to-day.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Goes deep as No. 6 hitter

Santander went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Padres. After being dropped to sixth in Toronto's lineup Tuesday, Santander responded by smashing his sixth homer of the year. While he's batting just .190 (12-for-63) over his last 17 games, the switch-hitting slugger does have four homers and 10 RBI during this stretch. Santander has dealt with shoulder and hip issues in the early going, so Tuesday's showing was an encouraging sign as he searches for a rhythm at the plate going forward.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Good to go Sunday

Santander (hip) is batting fifth as the designated hitter Sunday against the Tigers. The 30-year-old sat out the previous two games due to hip soreness but is ready to go for Sunday's series finale versus Detroit. Santander was unavailable last weekend in Seattle due to a shoulder issue and played just three games before tweaking his hip. He's mostly struggled at the plate in his first 40 games with the Blue Jays and has a .187/.270/.316 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI and 12 runs.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Nursing sore hip

Santander isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers due to left hip soreness, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. Santander's hip reportedly began bothering him after a swing Thursday, and it helps explain why he sat out Friday's contest as well. His absence will move Vladimir Guerrero into the DH spot Saturday, putting Ernie Clement at first base and opening up second for Michael Stefanic.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Stepping out of lineup Friday

Santander is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Tigers. • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Expected back Tuesday

Santander (shoulder) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Rays, Mitch Bannon of the Athletic reports. Santander's had a bumpy start to his Toronto tenure, but he was starting to come around prior to injuring his shoulder, batting .250 (10-for-40) with three homers and eight RBI over his last 10 contests.

Santander (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners. • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Working through shoulder injury

Santander is not in Saturday's starting lineup against the Mariners due to a shoulder injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Santander has been receiving treatment on his shoulder after crashing into the stands in a pursuit of a foul ball during Thursday's game against the Angels, per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca. The outfielder will be out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive game as a result of his injury, but he could be available off the bench Saturday. George Springer will serve as the Blue Jays' designated hitter while Myles Straw, Daulton Varsho and Nathan Lukes start in the outfield with Santander out.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Taking seat Friday

Santander isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners. Santander will get a breather during Friday's series opener after going 5-for-14 with a homer and four RBI during Toronto's previous series in Anaheim. His absence will put George Springer in the DH spot while Jonatan Clase picks up a start in left field, batting ninth.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Swats fifth homer

Santander went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Angels. Santander is up to five homers this season, three of which have come over his last eight games. In that span, the outfielder has gone 6-for-30 (.200) with five RBI and five runs scored. Santander's finding a little more success, but it'll take some time for that to be reflected in his overall numbers. He's batting. 180 with a .597 OPS, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and five doubles over 34 games this season.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Starting to bounce back

Santander went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's extra-inning win over Boston. Santander is finally starting to emerge from his early-season doldrums, going deep in two of his last three games. The slugging switch hitter still has work to do, however, as he's slashing .175/.258/.316 with four round trippers, four doubles, 12 doubles and nine runs scored through 128 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should stay patient with Santander, who should continue to see plenty of RBI opportunities while primarily batting third in Toronto's lineup.
