Gordon was waived by the Flyers on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Gordon had been watching games from the press box far too often, and even when he made his way onto the ice, his ice-time average stood at a mere 8:11 through 13 games. He's primarily a penalty-killing specialist, so if he happens to get claimed, it's likely to be a team like Buffalo, Dallas, Arizona or even Chicago scooping him up, as those are the ones hurting the most while shorthanded.

Flyers' Boyd Gordon: Activated off injured reserve
Gordon (upper body) was taken off injured reserve Wednesday.
Gordon has been out of the lineup since late October, missing a total of 19 contests. Prior to getting hurt, the center had tallied a lone goal (on Opening Night) in eight games, so there's not much to see here from a fantasy perspective. The veteran is averaging a mere 8:31 of ice time per night and will likely continue to be utilized primarily as a penalty-killing specialist, which limits his scoring opportunities.

Flyers' Boyd Gordon: Lands on LTIR
Gordon (upper body) has been placed on long-term injured reserve to accommodate the return of Michael Del Zotto (lower body), starting with Saturday's road game against the Canadiens, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
This is a cap-saving measure for the Flyers, and not necessarily indicative of Gordon suffering any kind of setback. However, per league rules regarding LTIR, the faceoff specialist will not be able to play for the next 10 games or 24 days.

Flyers' Boyd Gordon: Sent to IR
Gordon (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
In a corresponding transaction, the Flyers activated winger Michael Raffl (abdomen) ahead of Thursday's contest against the Islanders. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare has been filling in for Gordon, though he's the inferior option in the faceoff circle.

Gordon will miss at least one week with an upper-body injury.
Gordon's absence will hurt the Flyers on the penalty kill and in the faceoff circle, as he's currently leading the team with a 52.4 percent win rate on draws. Nick Cousins had been beneath him on the depth chart and presumably will be the one to fill in for the ailing Gordon.

Based on line rushes at morning skate Thursday, it will be Pierre-Edouard Bellemare taking Gordon's spot on the fourth line. Given that those guys have combined for two points through seven games this season, it's safe to avoid them in most fantasy circles.

Gordon has carved out a role as a penalty killer and faceoff specialist, and he's typically deployed as the fourth-line center. His role with Philadelphia doesn't present many opportunities to be a fantasy contributor, and Gordon has just 18 points over his past 138 games dating back to the 2014-15 season.

Flyers' Boyd Gordon: Turning heads in training camp
Gordon was praised by Flyers coach Dave Hakstol for his defensive work at Saturday's practice, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Gordon reportedly will assume the role of penalty-killing specialist in his first season donning the Orange and Black. Philadelphia killed off only 80.5 percent of its penalties in 2015-16, so he'll try to make an impact in that area while taking some defensive pressure off top-line offensive producer Claude Giroux. As nice as this sounds for the Flyers, it likely won't cause a stir in fantasy land as Gordon, with his 12 years of NHL service time, has failed to hit the 30-point mark in a single season.

Flyers' Boyd Gordon: Inks one-year deal with Flyers
Gordon inked a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Flyers on Friday, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Gordon has been a jumping around the league as of late after spending seven years with Washington, but now lands with the Flyers to help shore up their issues on the penalty kill. The 32-year-old won't provide much in the way of box score production, as the center notched just four points in 65 appearances with the Coyotes last season. The 2002 first-round pick will be a helpful role player for Philadelphia, but provides little value in fantasy leagues.

Coyotes' Boyd Gordon: Scores goal in Friday's win
Gordon scored a shorthanded goal during Friday's 4-1 win over Calgary.
The goal, coming on his only shot of the game, was just the second of the season for Gordon, but both have been in the last three games. He also blocked a shot and finished with a plus-1 rating in 15:18 of ice time. It was just the third time this season that the center saw over 15 minutes on the ice. Gordon has never been a big fantasy producer, but he could be worth monitoring if the good play keeps up.

Coyotes' Boyd Gordon: Scores first goal of season
Gordon scored his first goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to Colorado Monday.
The scrappy center was very productive during his 10:30 on the ice, adding four shots and two hits. Gordon missed nearly a month with an injury, but is back to his normal spot on Arizona's fourth line. The 32-year-old doesn't offer much in terms of fantasy value, as he's put up just three points in 49 games.

Coyotes' Boyd Gordon: Probable Saturday
Gordon (upper body) is expected to be in the lineup Saturday night with the Panthers in town, Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports reports.
Gordon hasn't played since Feb. 5, a span of 13 games. The veteran center doesn't make much noise in fantasy leagues since he only averages 11:47 of ice time per contest, but he does give the Coyotes a lift in the faceoff circle. Gordon's winning 57.3 percent of his draws this season, the most of any Coyotes skater who's appeared in more than 20 games.

Gordon has been out since taking a puck off his hand during a game Feb. 4. During the practice Wednesday he skated on a line with Viktor Tikhonov and Craig Cunningham. He's not quite ready to return and should be considered day-to-day. The gritty center, even when healthy, isn't a big fantasy producer. He's put up just two assists, 32 shots and six penalty minutes in 47 games this season.

Even when healthy, Gordon doesn't produce much offensively (two points in 47 games), and doesn't provide some of the physical stats of other forwards in the bottom six (just 12 hits). Boyd was able to skate Monday but remains "weeks away," so the move was basically just a procedural one. He's scheduled to have another evaluation later in the week, so it's possible the club will have a clearer idea about the ailment then.
