Iain MacIntyre@imacSportsnet1H agoAnd Canucks management in the situation room in Vegas. Grinding away on other UFAs. The $4M generated with Wednesday's offload of Ilya Mikheyev certainly appears linked to Joshua's re-signing this morning, and could lead to others.

Iain MacIntyre@imacSportsnet1H agoDakota Joshua unavailable to media today, but told me after breakthrough season that he has much more to give Canucks. "Knowing what it takes and what to really expect to be a good player in this league, I've grown a lot. I do expect to build off this year and get better."

Jeff Paterson@patersonjeff2H agoI like Teddy Blueger for what he is. I still think optimally he's #Canucks 4C. I'd give Pius Suter a shot at 3C with Joshua & Garland. While not flashy, Suter just has a better offensive profile than Blueger. Why not give those two wingers a more offence-oriented centre?

Jeff Paterson@patersonjeff3H agogood for Joshua gets both money and term for first time in his #NHL career. Has earned it. And it’s a manageable number for #Canucks. Much needed size and PK utility for the club

Iain MacIntyre@imacSportsnet15H agoThe Canucks get a player back in the amazing Mikheyev salary dump. We just have to wait to see which free agent/s they sign w $4M savings. Patrik Allvin: “It does give us more flexibility on July 1 and leading up to Monday with our own free agents.” https://t.co/AVoLovvXsU

Iain MacIntyre@imacSportsnet16H agoAsked GM Patrik Allvin tonight if saving $4M on Mikeyev makes it more likely Canucks re-sign their own UFAs. "It’s hard to say until you get to the finish line. We’ll see what happens next but hopefully we can get more done. There’s ongoing conversations with guys."
