Dylan Olsen: Released from tryout
Olsen was released from his professional tryout agreement with the Flames on Tuesday.
Olsen will report to Calgary's minor-league affiliate, AHL Stockton, for its training camp in order to try to see if he fits with that program. While it's possible he could do enough to earn a two-way deal, the blueliner's best shot might be under an AHL-only contract for the 2017-18 campaign.

Flames' Dylan Olsen: Auditioning with Flames
Olsen will be in training camp with the Flames on a professional tryout agreement, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
The Alberta native has failed to garner a full-time role at hockey's highest level since the Blackhawks made the left-shooting rearguard their 2009 first-round (28th overall) draft choice. He's had stints with the 'Hawks and Panthers, adding five goals and 17 assists over 124 games, but Olsen is far from a household name. Even if the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder impresses in his tryout, it's hard to see him standing out on a team that acquired the gritty Travis Hamonic in the offseason and renewed Michael Stone's deal for three years.

Panthers' Dylan Olsen: Returned to AHL Wednesday
Olsen was sent back down to AHL Portland on Wednesday.
Olsen was recalled on an emergency basis Tuesday, but didn't draw into the lineup against the Canadiens. With a day off before playing against the Maple Leafs, the Panthers' blue line should continue to heal up enough to make Olsen surplus to the NHL team's needs.

Olsen was recalled from AHL Portland on an emergency basis Tuesday.
Fellow defenseman Erik Gudbranson was spotted with a noticeable limp following Monday's contest, potentially creating a void on the blue line for Tuesday's tilt against the Canadiens. Olsen has appeared in eight games with the parent club this season, tallying a point, two penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating.

Olsen has been returned to AHL Portland, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Olsen, a first-round (28th overall) pick in 2009, did not end up playing after getting called up to the parent club ahead of Saturday's game against Chicago, the team that drafted him. Fantasy players generally expect big offensive totals from their rostered skaters but Olsen's focus is more on the defensive aspect of the game.

Panthers' Dylan Olsen: Recalled by Panthers
Olsen was recalled from AHL Portland on Thursday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Olsen played in eight games with the Panthers earlier in the campaign, and will finally receive a second go around with the parent organization after posting eight points in 19 games with AHL Portland. The 25-year-old blueliner was a former first-round pick by the Blackhawks, but hasn't really lived up to his potential to this point in his career. Olsen does have a fair amount of experience at the big league level, but he may not be with the Panthers long enough to make much of an impact.

Panthers' Dylan Olsen: Sent back to AHL
Olsen was reassigned to AHL Portland on Monday, Jameson Olive of FloridaPanthers.com reports.
Olsen has skated in eight game for Florida this season, registering one point, an assist, to go with a minus-one rating in an average of 13:45 of ice time. The 24-year-old will head back to Portland, where he figures to spend considerable time this season.

Olsen was recalled from AHL Portland on Friday on an emergency basis.
Olsen's recall was prompted by an injury to Steve Kampfer, who will not travel to Boston for Saturday's game. Olsen will at least play Saturday, but depending on whether or not Kampfer is able to join the team in the middle of the road trip, Olsen could easily feature in each game of the four-game trip. A former first-round pick, Olsen possesses a large frame and an above-average shot from the point.

Olsen was recalled by the Panthers on Saturday.
With Dmitry Kulikov (lower body) and Alex Petrovic (foot) both expected to, at the very least, miss Florida's next few games, the Panthers are in desperate need of help at defense. Olsen, who has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in nine games with AHL Portland this season, will immediately slot into the Cats' lineup as the team's sixth defenseman, and will likely skate alongside Steve Kampfer on the Panthers' third pairing until Kulikov or Petrovic is ready to return to action.

Olsen has been returned to AHL Portland, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Olsen is a 24-year-old defenseman with a bit of upside handling the puck, but the 28th overall pick of 2009 (Blackhawks) has largely failed to translate his skills to the NHL level, having recorded just 21 points in 116 career games between the Blackhawks and Panthers. For now, he's best viewed as organizational depth for the Cats.

Olsen cleared waivers and is headed to AHL Portland, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.Olsen split time between the Panthers and AHL San Antonio last season, playing 44 games in the NHL and posting two goals and six assists in that span with a minus-7 rating. The former first-round pick in 2009 hasn't really materialized the way the team might've hoped, but at just 24-years-old, the big bodied defenseman could still become a NHL player down the road.
