Kearns announced his retirement from professional hockey Monday.
Kearns spent the 2018-19 campaign with EHC Linz of the EBEL, notching nine goals and 23 points in 45 games. The 38-year-old forward appeared in 35 NHL contests during his 14-year career, totaling three goals and six points over that span.

Bracken Kearns: Departs for Austria
Kearns signed a one-year deal with the Linz Black Wings of the Austrian league.
The AHL veteran has chosen to leave North American hockey behind and will play in Austria for the 2018-19 season. The 37-year-old Canadian played in only 35 games at hockey's highest level throughout his 13-year career.

Devils' Bracken Kearns: Waived by New Jersey
Kearns was waived by the Devils on Tuesday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.
Kearns spent most of his 2016-17 with AHL Bridgeport in the Islanders' organization last season. At least in the lower ranks, he's proven that he can be a dual threat in the scoring and assist columns: He produced 23 goals, 28 assists and a robust plus-16 rating with the Sound Tigers in 2016-17. However, he only got into two games with the big club. Expect the lefty-shooting center to report to AHL Albany in the likely event that he clears waivers.

Islanders' Bracken Kearns: Heads across river to Jersey
Kearns signed a one-year, two way contract worth $650,000 with the Devils on Saturday.
The veteran center only played two NHL games last season, being held without a point. Kearns, 36, was able to score 23 goals and dish 28 helpers while recording a plus-16 rating in 74 AHL games, though, making him easily worthy of another year of hockey. Don't expect the Devils, in the midst of rebuilding, to give a player of Kearns' age much NHL time.

Islanders' Bracken Kearns: Assigned to minors
Kearns was assigned to AHL Bridgeport on Sunday, Shannon Hogan of MSG Network reports.
Kearns appeared in two games during his first stint with the Islanders this year, failing to score a point and adding two PIM, five hits and three shots on goal in those contests. Though he's 35 years old, Kearns has been one of the productive scorers at Bridgeport this season and could resurface at the NHL level if the Islanders incur more injuries at forward.

Islanders' Bracken Kearns: Called up to big club
Kearns was emergency recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.
With Casey Cizikas (upper body) and Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) going down during Tuesday's win over the Red Wings and Shane Prince (upper body) still on the mend, the Islanders are in serious need of forwards, thus leading to Kearns' first recall of the season. The 35-year-old is currently leading Bridgeport in scoring and is a solid two-way player, so perhaps the vet can see some solid playing time during this window of opportunity.

Islanders' Bracken Kearns: Waived by Islanders
The Islanders placed Kearns on waivers Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
The Islanders inked Kearns to a one-year, two-way deal in June to bring his veteran leadership back to AHL Bridgeport for another season, so this move was expected. The 35-year-old winger drew into two games with the Islanders last season, and could get a similar opportunity in 2016-17 if and when the Islanders are hit with the injury bug up front. As long as Kearns goes unclaimed, he'll head to AHL Bridgeport to begin preparing for the upcoming campaign this weekend.

Kearns has cracked an NHL lineup a mere 33 times in his career, but the organization likely extended him based on his veteran leadership with AHL Bridgeport Sound. If he does suit up for the Islanders at all next season, the center will not offer much in terms of fantasy value.

Kearns picked up his first points of the year with a shorthanded assist and added three hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Sabres.
Kearns was recalled Saturday from AHL Bridgeport and immediately paid dividends on the fourth line. The Islanders are dealing with injuries, and if they're forced to stick with the 34-year-old, he at least brings 52 points with him from the AHL. However, the winger has had multiple chances with other clubs in the past and failed to make a consistent impact.
