Martin Brodeur recorded another assist during the New Jersey Devils 4-1 win on Monday night, giving him four points this postseason. A couple of weeks ago he tied an NHL record for most points in a single playoff run for a goalie, and his tally on the scoresheet Monday put him at the top of the list all by himself.
Sure, two of the assists came on empty net goals (including Monday's), but for a goalie that is still a pretty big number. It would be a nice number for an entire regular season, but consider during the entire 2011-12 season no goalie had more than five assists (Nashville's Pekka Rinne was the leader).
He's done this in just 16 games.
But let's forget goalies for a second. Here is a list of forwards and defenseman (minimum seven games played this postseason) that, as of Monday night, May 21, have fewer points than Brodeur this postseason.
