Football Team's Wendell Smallwood: Gets six touches
Smallwood took four carries for 12 yards and two catches for 10 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Eagles.
Smallwood played 25 percent of snaps, filling a change-of-pace role behind rookie Jaret Patterson with Antonio Gibson on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Smallwood turns 28 in January and may stick around due to his experience on special teams and playing passing downs, but there's no real path to a significant workload in Washington, be it Week 18 against the Giants or next season.

Football Team's Wendell Smallwood: Possible bump in playing time
Smallwood was elevated to Washington's active roster Saturday.
Antonio Gibson was not activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning Jaret Patterson, Jonathan Williams and Wendell Smallwood will form an unheralded backfield-by-committee for Washington. Smallwood has been active for just two games this season and has primarily been used on special teams, but considering the lack of healthy alternatives for Washington, expect to see the former Eagles back to get some playing time against the team that drafted him back in 2016.

Wendell Smallwood: Heads back to practice squad
Smallwood reverted to Washington's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report.
Smallwood, who was activated off the COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys, played just six special teams snaps and didn't record a counting stat. If Antonio Gibson (toe) is able to clear the injury report this week, Smallwood will likely stick with the practice squad in Week 17.

Wendell Smallwood: Not feeling 100 percent
Coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday that Smallwood (undisclosed) is feeling sore after handling three offensive touches Week 13, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
The Football Team evidently isn't sure Smallwood will be available Week 14 versus Dallas, which prompted the signing of Jonathan Williams off the Giants' practice squad. Of course, if J.D. McKissic (concussion) manages to retake the field, it's possible neither Smallwood nor Williams are given an opportunity to see the field.

Wendell Smallwood: Back to practice squad
Smallwood reverted to Washington's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Smallwood appeared in his first game of the 2021 season after being elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Raiders, carrying the ball once for 13 yards while reeling in two passes for 12 yards. He was also on the field for eight snaps on special teams. Smallwood could see playing time again in Week 14 if J.D. McKissic (concussion) is unable to go.

Football Team's Wendell Smallwood: Gets only three touches
Smallwood took one carry for 13 yards and caught two passes for 12 yards in Sunday's 17-15 win over Las Vegas.
Smallwood was elevated from the practice squad Saturday to replace J.D. McKissic, who was ruled out beforehand with a concussion. Rather than having Smallwood handle McKissic's typical role, OC Scott Turner unleashed Antonio Gibson for season-high 82 percent snap share while Smallwood got just 7 percent and Jaret Patterson took 6 percent. That likely quashes most of the deep-league interest in Smallwood, though he could see a few more looks if McKissic misses additional time.
