The Jaguars scored the 17th-most Fantasy points per game in 2023. They return Josh Allen and are hoping for a leap from former No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker in hopes of topping the 40 sacks they racked up in 2023. However, with question marks in the secondary, the Jaguars have issues that could hold them back from joining the elite ranks in 2024. There are better DSTs to invest in on Draft Day.

  • Giants' Tre Herndon: Inks deal with Giants

The Giants signed Herndon on Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. The 28-year-old cornerback spent the first six seasons of his career in Jacksonville, but he's now found a new home in New York. Last season, Herndon started four of the 16 games that he appeared in, recording 46 total tackles and nine passes defended. He's expected to add depth to a Giants secondary that ranked 19th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game (229.3) in 2023.

  • Jaguars' Arik Armstead: Should be ready by camp

Armstead (knee) will probably be ready for training camp, Zach Goodall of The Jaguars Wire reports. The defensive tackle played through a torn meniscus during San Francisco's Super Bowl run last season before having surgery in the offseason. Armstead signed a three-year, $51 million deal with Jacksonville despite the injury. The veteran finished with 27 tackles, including 5.0 sacks, in the 2023 regular season.

  • Jaguars' Ventrell Miller: Working back from injury

Miller is progressing in his return from an Achilles injury, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Miller was hurt in the Jaguars' final preseason contest last August and missed the entire campaign. The 2023 fourth-round pick will look to make his NFL debut in 2024 and could work his way up to prominent role among the team's linebacker corps.

  • Jaguars' Christian Braswell: Getting work in

Braswell (hamstring) participated in OTAs on Tuesday, Jamal Cyr of Channel 4 Jacksonville reports. He appeared in three games for the Jaguars last season and logged nine snaps on special teams before landing on injured reserve in October due to a hamstring injury. Braswell was participating in drills Tuesday, rotating with Darnell Savage and Jarrian Jones in the secondary.

  • Bills' Dawuane Smoot: Headed to Buffalo

Smoot signed a one-year deal with the Bills on Friday, Alec White & Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports. Smoot, who spent the past seven seasons with the Jaguars, will provide the Bills with added defensive-line depth ahead of the 2024 campaign. The 2017 third-rounder is coming off a 2023 regular season in which he recorded just 10 tackles, including a sack, in 12 contests, but with Buffalo, Smoot should have a chance to contribute as a rotational pass rusher.

  • Jaguars' Myles Cole: Jacksonville snatches in Round 7

The Jaguars selected Cole in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 236th overall. Cole was remarkably unproductive at Texas Tech and before that Louisiana-Lafayette, but usually a player as athletic as Cole would go much earlier than this. At 6-foot-6, 278 pounds, Cole is either a mammoth 4-3 end or an underweight 3-4 end, and wherever he lines up he'll be one of the most athletic players on the field (4.67-second 40-yard dash, 120-inch broad jump). The problem is that he was one of the most athletic players on the field at Texas Tech and Lafayette and still had almost no production to show for it. Cole is all theory, no practice for the time being after logging just 12.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks over 59 career games. It's intensely perplexing that he didn't do more with such great athleticism.

  • Jaguars' Deantre Prince: Finds home in Duval

The Jaguars selected Prince in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 153rd overall. One of the faster corners of this class (4.38 40-yard dash), the multi-year Ole Miss starter probably profiles as a special teams gunner to start, at least early on in his career. Prince will need to improve his technique, specifically against double moves, quickly, because he'll turn 24 years old midway through his rookie season.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Jacksonville adds in third round

The Jaguars selected Jones in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 96th overall. Jones (6-feet, 190 pounds) didn't have as much hype as Florida State teammate and second-round Buffalo selection Renardo Green, but Jones was a good starting corner in his own right for the Seminoles and actually had the better athletic testing of the two players. Jones' arms are probably too short for press coverage, but his 4.38-second 40-yard dash, 39.5-inch vertical and 129-inch broad jump indicate uncommon vertical range. Jones will compete with the likes of Montaric Brown and Darnell Savage for reps behind starting corners Tyson Campbell and Ronald Darby.

  • Broncos' Angelo Blackson: Finds new home

Blackson signed a one-year contract with the Broncos on Monday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Blackson will join his sixth NFL squad for his 10th season in the league after playing 11 games for the Jaguars in 2023. The 32-year-old recovered three fumbles last season while recording 13 combined tackles. He'll likely be a depth option for Denver's defensive line.

The Jaguars re-signed Junior on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Junior was an exclusive rights free agent this offseason after playing in nine games last year. The cornerback mainly saw action on special teams and will look to carve out a depth role again in 2024.

  • Jaguars' Josh Allen: Agrees to massive five-year deal

Allen and the Jaguars agreed to terms Wednesday on a five-year, $150 million contract, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports. Jacksonville is about a month removed from placing the franchise tag on Allen, who tallied a franchise-record 17.5 sacks last season, but the team's stated goal has always been to negotiate a long-term contract with the two-time Pro Bowler. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Allen's new deal includes $88 million guaranteed, while the franchise tag would've had him play out the 2024 season on a salary of just over $24 million. Allen looked convincing as one of the league's elite pass-rushers in 2024, in which he also logged 66 tackles (43 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles across 17 regular-season appearances. He'll come off the board as one of the top players at his position in IDP formats in 2024 drafts.

  • Jaguars' Foye Oluokun: Inks four-year extension

The Jaguars signed Oluokun to a four-year, $45 million contract extension Friday. Oluokun's new deal reportedly includes $22.5 million guaranteed at signing, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. In his last three seasons, Oluokun has racked up 192, 184 and 173 total tackles, making him one of the most feared interior linebackers in the league. Now heading into his age-29 season, Oluokun figures to remain a high-end IDP fantasy asset.

  • Panthers' K'Lavon Chaisson: Inks deal with Carolina

The Panthers signed Chaisson to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. After spending the first four years of his career with the Jaguars, the 2020 first-round pick is now headed to Carolina. Chaisson appeared in 26 games (no starts) over the past two seasons, recording 23 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, while also defending one pass. It's safe to say that the 24-year-old underwhelmed in Jacksonville, but he could very well have the chance to compete for a starting job in the Panthers' linebacker corps this offseason.

  • Jaguars' Arik Armstead: Landing in Jacksonville

The Jaguars are slated to sign Armstead (knee), Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Armstead, whose deal is reportedly for three years and $51 million, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, immediately becomes a linchpin of Jacksonville's defensive front, fixing a huge need for the team along the interior of the defensive line. The 30-year-old is recovering from surgery undergone to address a torn meniscus, which he played through during the 49ers' postseason run.

  • Seahawks' Rayshawn Jenkins: Officially joining Seattle

Jenkins and the Seahawks agreed on a two-year contract, $12 million contract Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Jenkins will officially head to Seattle after spending the last three seasons in Jacksonville, most recently recording 101 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, while also intercepting two passes and deflecting nine others over 17 games in 2023. He'll likely replace Quandre Diggs as the team's starting free safety in 2024 after Diggs was released.

The 2017 fourth-round pick tallied 101 tackles (66 solo) and two interceptions in 17 games played last season and should have a chance to compete for the starting safety spot opposite Julian Love.

The soon-to-be 31-year-old was released by the Jaguars last Tuesday after recording 53 combined tackles and 19 passes defended, including four interceptions, across 17 contests during the 2023 campaign. He should step into a starting role for Los Angeles during the upcoming season.

  • Texans' Folorunso Fatukasi: Inks deal with Houston

The Texans agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Fatukasi on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Fatukasi will stay in the AFC South after being released by the Jaguars this past Monday. The 6-foot-4 defensive tackle joined Jacksonville on a three-year, $30 million deal in March 2022, and he compiled 48 tackles, 1.5 sacks and four passes defended while appearing in 30 games over the last two regular seasons. Veteran defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins currently is set to hit free agency when the new league year starts Wednesday, and his potential departure could open up a starting role for Fatukasi in Houston.

  • Jaguars' Daniel Thomas: Re-ups with Jags

Jacksonville and Thomas (forearm) agreed to terms Thursday on a contract extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Thomas' new contract is reportedly a two-year deal worth up to $6 million, per Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com. The fifth-year veteran is working his way from a season-ending forearm fracture, but that doesn't seem likely to significantly impact his offseason work. In addition to being a standout on special teams, Thomas is capable of contributing as a backup at safety.

  • Jaguars' Josh Allen: Officially gets franchise tag

The Jaguars have officially placed their franchise tag on Allen ahead of Tuesday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline. Allen receiving the franchise tag has been long expected, and is now official. The 2019 first-round pick is coming off a true breakout campaign, with a career-high 17.5 sacks in 2023, to go with 66 tackles (43 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles. He and Jacksonville still have until mid-July to negotiate a long-term deal, but if Allen believes he can replicate similar production in the 2024 season, he may be comfortable betting on himself with the hopes of hitting the open market next offseason as a true star at one of the NFL's most sought-after positions.
