Free-agent WR Plaxico Burress will workout for the Patriots on Sunday, according to a report to ESPN.com.

The Patriots have some injuries at receiver -- Deion Branch has been out with a hip injury, and Britt Davis left the Saints game with a shoulder injury -- but it would be surprising if this was anything more than updating emergency lists.

The Patriots work out just about every available free agent at some point -- they had a parade after the lockout last year -- and for them it comes down to whether the guy can play or not, and whether he's better than others on the roster. That's it.

If the Patriots pass on Burress now, he goes on the emergency lists for later if injuries occur.

Would be surprised if the Patriots signed Burress, 35. He looked liked he couldn't get off press coverage last year.
