Julian Vandervelde undergoes back surgery

Eagles backup center Julian Vandervelde underwent back surgery recently and is expected to misss the start of the season, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. The 2011 fifth-round pick plays mostly on special teams and took eight snaps at center last year.
