Could Plax and Romo make beautiful music? (US Presswire)

The Cowboys have a ton of talent and much of it is at wide receiver. There's just one problem -- a lot of their wideouts aren't sure things. Dez Bryant has ... issues and Miles Austin's currently, as Nick Eatman of our Rapid Reports blog notes, dealing with a hamstring injury.

So perhaps Dallas will head out and take a look at a veteran wideout. That wideout, according to what Stephen Jones told the Dallas Morning-News, could end up being Plaxico Burress, if the Boys can't develop enough depth behind Austin and Bryant before the season begins.

We’ve got some guys,” Jones said. “When all is said and done, we may not need anybody. But at some point, a veteran receiver is someone we might want to look at, a slot type receiver as well. Plaxico has some really great highlights in his career. With a guy like him it would mean you move Miles into the slot when you go with three.

"I wouldn’t totally rule out Plaxico at some point if he’s still there when we work through our evaluation process with the guys here."

Having Plax and Dez on the field would kind of necessitate Miles moving inside, even if it sounds weird to be concerned with how the addition of Burress will affect the way -- and where -- Austin plays. It might also say more about just how much Jones (at least the younger one) likes Burress.

The Cowboys are aren't in dire straits -- yet -- when it comes to wideout help, but a very talented position could all of a sudden turn into a weakness if Bryant struggles, Austin is hurt and Laurent Robinson isn't walking through that door.

And that could lead to Dallas taking a look at Burress, which would only really work as a good fit if the Cowboys become desperate for talent to line up at wideout.
