Monasterio will start at third base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Reds, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Monasterio made three starts in the Brewers' ensuing six games following his promotion from Triple-A Nashville on May 9, but playing time has been scarce ever since for the 28-year-old. He'll crack the lineup for the first time since May 26, stepping in at the hot corner for a resting Caleb Durbin.... See More ... See Less

Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Back with big club
The Brewers recalled Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville on Friday. Monasterio slashed just .208/.303/.272 over 59 games with Milwaukee last season. He will be used as a utility infielder.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Cut from big-league camp
The Brewers optioned Monasterio to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Monasterio did all he could this spring to break camp with the big club, posting a 1.157 OPS, but it wasn't enough. With Monasterio slated to begin the season in Nashville, Caleb Durbin's spot on the Opening Day roster might now be locked in.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Logs sixth steal
Monasterio went 0-for-1 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Giants. Monasterio has seen little playing time while occupying a short-side platoon role since the All-Star break. He's gone 5-for-22 over his last 14 contests while serving as an infield depth option. For the year, he has a poor .208/.322/.277 slash line with one home run, six steals, 12 RBI and 13 runs scored over 118 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Swipes bag in win
Monasterio went 2-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Pirates. Monasterio has a pair of multi-hit efforts over seven games in July, but he's gone hitless in four other contests this month. The infielder is slashing a meager .200/.286/.267 with one home run, nine RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases across 84 plate appearances. While Joey Ortiz (neck) is on the injured list, Monasterio has shared third base with Vinny Capra, though neither player has done much with their extra playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sitting Tuesday
Monasterio isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday versus Pittsburgh. Monasterio has struggled since taking over for Joey Ortiz (neck) as Milwaukee's primary third baseman, going just 2-for-15 at the plate in his last four games. He'll give way to Vinny Capra on Tuesday, who will bat ninth while manning the hot corner.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Back up to majors
The Brewers recalled Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Monasterio has appeared in four games with the Brewers this season, going 0-for-7 with two runs and two walks. He's slashing .243/.362/.297 with seven runs, two doubles, six steals and four RBI over 47 plates appearances in Triple-A this season. Monasterio's move up to the majors corresponds with the Brewers placing Joey Wiemer (knee) on the 10-day injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Recalled from Triple-A
Monasterio was recalled from Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers on Friday. Monasterio was hitless in seven at-bats earlier this season with the Brewers and went 5-for-12 during his time at Nashville. He will provide Milwaukee with infield depth.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Handling third base in opener
Monasterio is starting at third base and batting ninth in Friday's opener against the Mets. The 26-year-old is part of a lineup loaded with righties and switch hitters versus southpaw Jose Quintana. Monasterio slashed .291/.387/.392 against left-handers last season.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Secures roster spot
The Brewers informed Monasterio on Monday that he'll be included on the Opening Day roster, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Monasterio will be part of his first Opening Day roster after he impressed the Brewers with his on-base skills and defensive versatility last season upon receiving his first call to the big leagues in late May. While picking up 77 total starts between second base, third base and shortstop, Monasterio slashed .259/.330/.348 across 315 plate appearances. Though injuries to other infielders helped him secure steady playing time for much of his time in the big leagues last season, Monasterio is likely to handle a short-side platoon role to begin 2024. He'll be a candidate to replace Brice Turang at second base or Sal Frelick at third base when the Brewers face left-handed pitching.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Again retreats to bench
Monasterio is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals. Monasterio started 21 straight games from Aug. 23 through Sept. 15, but he now finds himself out of the lineup for the second time in three days. Josh Donaldson will man the hot corner for a third straight game and could continue cutting into Monasterio's playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Day off Saturday
Monasterio will sit Saturday against the Nationals. Monasterio has settled into an everyday role in the second half, with Saturday's off day being just his third since the break. His bat has been sub-par for an everyday corner infielder, however, as his .270/.344/.369 slash line is good for a modest 97 wRC+. Josh Donaldson will take over at the hot corner Saturday.... Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Notches two hits, stolen base
Monasterio went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 victory versus San Diego. Monasterio plated Milwaukee's first run with a single in the fifth inning. He was moved to second on a fielder's choice, then came around to score after stealing third base and drawing a throwing error by Padres catcher Luis Campusano. Monasterio came into Saturday in the midst of a 2-for-30 stretch over his previous eight contests, though he's been able to maintain a near-everyday role in the Brewers' lineup.... See More ... Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sitting amid struggles
Monasterio is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Twins. Monasterio is stuck in a 1-for-22 slump and has posted an overall .200/.288/.323 batting line in 73 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to August. Brian Anderson will play third base and hit ninth for Milwaukee on Tuesday against Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Reaches four times in win
Monasterio went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and a steal in Monday's victory over the Reds. The 26-year-old reached the majors for the first time this year, and he has proven to be a valuable utility player, posting a .292 batting average and .382 OBP over 102 PA while making at least five starts at each of the three infield positions left of first base. He is not doing a lot for fantasy players outside of the batting average category, but he is getting regular playing time at the moment, starting nine straight games at the hot corner.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Serving as everyday third baseman
Monasterio will start at third base and bat seventh Wednesday against the Phillies. With Brian Anderson (back) recently joining Rowdy Tellez (forearm) on the 10-day injured list, the Brewers have turned to Owen Miller and Monasterio as their primary options at the two corner-infield spots. Monasterio will man the hot corner for the fifth game in a row after going 4-for-14 with a double, a walk, three runs and two RBI over the previous four contests.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Getting start at third base
Monasterio is starting at third base and batting sixth on Monday versus the Cubs. With Brian Anderson going on paternity leave, Monasterio will be the first to fill in at the hot corner. It's the first start at third base at the major-league level for the 26-year-old.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: In Monday's lineup
Monasterio (head) will start at shortstop and bat second in Monday's game against the Reds. Monasterio exited Sunday's 5-1 win early after being hit in the head on a tag play, but his removal from the contest was described as precautionary. The rookie's presence in the lineup a day later seemingly supports that sentiment, but Monasterio's playing time is soon expected to take a hit. Willy Adames (concussion) looks on track to return from the 7-day injured list Thursday, which will likely leave Monasterio as the odd man out of the Milwaukee infield.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Exits Sunday's game
Monasterio was removed from Sunday's game against the Reds with an apparent head injury, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The 25-year-old took a shot to the face while making a tag on a pickoff throw during the third inning, and he was replaced by a pinch hitter after initially remaining in the contest. Monasterio clubbed his first big-league homer during the opening frame to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead, which was his lone plate appearance before leaving the game.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Signs with Brewers
Monasterio signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Monasterio spent time with Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus during the 2021 campaign and slashed .287/.371/.441 with eight homers, 72 runs and 61 RBI across 107 games. He'll serve as a non-roster invitee during spring training in 2022.... See More ... See Less
