  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Strong start at Double-A

Troy is hitting .400 with more walks (12) than strikeouts (nine), a home run and a stolen base through 50 plate appearances for Double-A Amarillo.

Troy was destined to put up a strong stat line while playing half his games in the very hitter-friendly park in Amarillo, but his control of the zone stands out through his first 10 games at Double-A. He had an injury-riddled first half last year but finished strong with an .822 OPS, four homers and nine steals in his final 33 games at High-A before logging an .864 OPS in the Arizona Fall League.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Heating up for Hops

Troy is slashing .280/.333/.480 with two home runs, four doubles and two steals in 13 games in August for High-A Hillsboro.

Prior to August, Troy was hitting .199 with one home run in 39 games (including rehab games) while dealing with a serious hamstring injury. This latest stretch is at least a sign that the talent that got him drafted with the No. 12 overall pick in last year's draft is still there.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Returning to High-A lineup

High-A Hillsboro reinstated Troy (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list Monday.

Troy will rejoin the High-A club after he went 7-for-23 with a triple, three doubles, five RBI and three runs over his seven rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 22-year-old shortstop had been on the shelf since April 26 with a left hamstring strain.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Rehabbing in Complex League

Troy (hamstring) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 18 and has slashed .304/.296/.522 with four extra-base hits and a 1:7 BB:K through seven games.

Troy's results during his rehab assignment haven't been otherworldly, but more important is the fact that he hasn't gone more than three days without playing in a game and hasn't endured any reported setbacks with his strained left hamstring. The 22-year-old shortstop could make his return from High-A Hillsboro's 7-day injured list at some point during the upcoming week.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Tracking toward mid-June return

Troy (hamstring) has taken live at-bats, but the organization is being conservative with his running program, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Troy, who landed on High-A Hillsboro's 7-day injured list April 26, is tracking toward a mid-June return, according to Diamondbacks farm director Shaun Larkin. Before straining his left hamstring, Troy appeared in 12 games for Hillsboro and slashed .184/.231/.286 with one home run and five stolen bases.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Out with hamstring strain

Troy will miss 4-to-6 weeks at High-A Hillsboro with a left hamstring strain, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Lauded as one of the best prospects in Arizona's farm system, Troy has slashed .184/.231/.286 across 52 plate appearances in High-A to begin the season. If the 22-year-old infielder is able to bounce back at the plate once he returns from his injury in late May or early June, he could earn a promotion to Double-A Amarillo by the end of the season.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Will get look early in camp

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Thursday that he's eager to see Troy (foot) against major-league pitching early in camp, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Lovullo discussed what's piquing his interest during Cactus League play and mentioned bringing prospects over from minor-league camp, including Troy and Druw Jones, to get at-bats and innings. While Troy's injury was not mentioned, that the manager was talking about him playing suggests last year's first-round pick is healthy and ready to go for spring ball. At the time of his September foot surgery, the expectation was that he'd have a full offseason to prepare for spring training. The 22-year-old shortstop batted .271 with an .843 OPS and stole nine bases over 27 combined games between the Arizona Complex League and High-A Hillsboro.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Undergoes surgery

Troy underwent surgery for a fractured foot last week, Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic reports.

Troy showed up in the dugout at Chase Field on Tuesday wearing a walking boot on his left foot. The 21-year-old shortstop, who was selected with the 12th overall pick this summer, said he originally hurt the foot in March when he was hit by a pitch but played through the injury. Troy added that stitches are set to be removed in two weeks and expects a full offseason of training. He hit .394/.478/.699 this year at Stanford, then slashed .271/.374/.469 in 27 games between the Arizona Complex League and High-A Hillsboro.
