  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Locks down sixth save

Miller struck out two and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to earn the save against the Brewers.

Luis Severino held Milwaukee to a single tally over eight innings, and Miller then shut the door with little drama. The flamethrowing righty touched 102.1 mph with his fastball and has yet to give up a run through seven appearances this season. Miller hasn't even allowed a hit in four of those outings and has a dominant 14:1 K:BB while converting all six of his save chances.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Mows down ChiSox for save

Miller struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect inning to earn a save against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Miller entered the game with a two-run lead in the ninth inning and retired the side in order on 12 pitches. White Sox batters looked overwhelmed against the fireballing closer, as all three batters Chicago sent to plate went down on strikes. Miller got six whiffs on just 12 total pitches, and he has now struck out at least one batter -- and allowed zero runs -- in all six of his outings this season. He's dominated with a 12:1 K:BB over six frames to cement his status as one of the league's top closers.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Logs fourth save

Miller earned the save in Friday's 3-1 win over the Mets. He allowed one hit while striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.

Miller needed 15 pitches (11 strikes) to get through the ninth inning, with his only blemish coming on a two-out single by Tyrone Taylor. Miller has registered a save in each of his last three outings and is up to four on the year. He has yet to give up a run across five innings of work, recording nine strikeouts against just one walk.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Records another save

Miller earned a save against the Rockies on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over one scoreless inning.

Miller had a relatively easy time preserving a three-run lead -- he gave up a one-out infield single but needed just 13 pitches to retire the side. The save was the second in as many days and third overall for the flamethrowing righty, who has yet to give up a run through four innings this season. He's been as dominant as ever with an 8:1 K:BB and just two hits allowed over that span.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Notches second save

Miller walked one batter and struck out another in a scoreless 11th inning to earn a save Friday against the Rockies.

Miller had to wait two frames more than he usually does to enter Friday's contest, but he still secured all three outs on 12 pitches to lock down his second save of the young season. The walk he surrendered marked only his second baserunner this season compared to the six batters he's retired via strikeout through three innings.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Dominates for first save

Miller picked up a save against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out three batters in one scoreless inning.

Though Miller gave up a one-out single, he was locked in during the outing, throwing 14 of 17 pitches for strikes and getting all three of his outs via strikeout. The flamethrowing righty ramped up to 102.2 mph with his fastball and got five whiffs during his limited time on the mound. Despite playing for an Athletics team that isn't expected to be a contender, Miller is one of fantasy's most desirable closers after notching 28 saves in 31 chances and posting an elite 14.4 K/9 over 55 appearances last season.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Shows off blistering fastball

Miller threw 11 fastballs over 100 mph Tuesday against the Rangers in his second appearance of the spring, MLB's David Adler reports.

Miller's first fastball of the outing -- clocked at 98.8 mph -- was hit for a home run off the bat of Josh Smith. After that, Miller ramped up the velocity, consistently hitting triple digits and topping out at 102.9 mph. Miller solidified himself in the ninth-inning role for the A's with a breakout in 2024 when he racked up 28 saves and 104 strikeouts in 55 appearances, and he is being drafted as a top-five closer in many leagues this spring.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Remaining in bullpen

Athletics general manager David Forst said this week that the team isn't considering moving Miller back into a starting role, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

When the Athletics announced last offseason that Miller would be used as a reliever, they didn't rule out the right-hander eventually returning to the rotation. However, it appears that ship has now sailed and Miller's future is in the bullpen. He was one of the best closers in baseball in 2024, posting a 2.49 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 104:21 K:BB over 65 innings. Given his past health issues, it's not a surprise that the team has opted to leave Miller in a role in which he's proven he can stay heathy and effective.
