  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Early offense in win

Carter went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 7-3 win over Houston. Carter delivered a two-out, two-run single in the first inning to give Texas an early lead. He then stole a base but was left stranded. Carter had a slow start upon his promotion from Triple-A Round Rock in early May, but the outfielder has turned it around over the last month. Since June 8, Carter owns a .310/.400/.483 slash line with nine extra-base hits, 14 RBI, nine steals and 17 runs scored over 25 games.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Knocks in three

Carter went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 13-1 win over the Angels. Carter's ground-rule double produced two runs, and he walked with the bases loaded for a third RBI. Knocking in runs has been a rarity for Carter, who entered the contest with just one RBI over the previous 17 games. The outfielder has just 14 RBI through 37 games this season.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Steals in three consecutive games

Carter went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Padres. Carter has stolen at least one base in three consecutive contests. He's reached base safely seven times and stolen five bags during that stretch. Carter is tied with Wyatt Langford for the team lead with 11 steals.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Steals two bags in return

Carter started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to San Diego. Carter returned from the bereavement list and picked up where he left off. The outfielder extended a hit streak to eight games and stole multiple bases for the second straight contest. Carter is slashing .355/.459/.387 with five steals and one RBI over the hit streak. He was eventually replaced by a pinch hitter in the 10th inning against a lefty reliever, which is a normal practice of Texas manager Bruce Bochy. Carter has just 10 plate appearances against southpaws this season.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Back from bereavement list

Carter (personal) was reinstated from the bereavement list and is back in the lineup Friday, starting in center field and batting fifth against the Padres. The 22-year-old Carter was demoted to Triple-A in April and also spent time on the injured list earlier this season with a Grade 2 quadriceps strain. He's turned it around at the dish since his return, however, slashing .333/.421/.530 with three homers and five steals across his last 21 games.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Moves to bereavement list

The Rangers placed Carter (personal) on the bereavement list Tuesday. Carter has been away from the team for the past few days in order to attend his grandfather's funeral, and he's now officially been moved to the bereavement list. It was previously reported that the 22-year-old was likely to rejoin the team Wednesday, though it's unclear if that's still the expectation.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Expected back Wednesday

The Rangers expect Carter (personal) to rejoin the team Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Carter left the team in order to attend his grandfather's funeral. He has not been placed on the bereavement list, so the Rangers will play a man short for two games. Michael Helman is in center field for Texas on Monday.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Extends hit streak in loss

Carter went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 6-4 extra-innings loss to the Mariners. Carter scored the Rangers' first run after a second-inning double, which also extended a hit streak to seven games. He's gone 10-for-28 (.357) with three steals, one RBI and four runs during his streak. The two thefts give Carter eight stolen bases through 32 games.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Idle Sunday

Carter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. Carter had started in center field in each of the previous three contests, but he'll be given a breather against southpaw Bailey Falter. After a two-game absence, Wyatt Langford (back) has been cleared to rejoin the starting nine and will replace Carter in center field while Sam Haggerty picks up another start in left.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Dropped in order

Carter batted seventh and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 win over Pittsburgh. Carter had a brief stint at leadoff while Josh Smith was unavailable due to a hamstring issue. With Smith returning Friday, Carter was back to the second half of the order. The stolen base was his sixth in 26 games.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Taking seat vs. lefty Bubic

Carter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. The left-handed-hitting Carter will head to the bench while the Royals send southpaw Kris Bubic to the bump. Though Carter has produced an .860 OPS over 23 games on the season, he's logged just seven of his 75 plate appearances against southpaws, and the Rangers may continue to limit his exposure to same-handed pitching.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Won't start this weekend

Carter (wrist) got tests on his sore right wrist and isn't expected to return to the starting lineup until at least Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Carter is out of the starting lineup Saturday after departing Friday's matchup early due to wrist soreness that likely was a consequence of a diving catch he made in the fourth inning. While he won't start Sunday either, Carter could be available as a pinch runner this weekend. The hope among the Rangers is that the outfielder could be back Tuesday against Kansas City following an off day Monday.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Injury considered minor

Manager Bruce Bochy said after Friday's win over the White Sox that he believes Carter's wrist injury isn't anything too serious, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Carter was pulled from Friday's game in the seventh inning after injuring his wrist on a diving catch in the fourth. Bochy added that the team will likely look to give the 22-year-old outfielder a day off to recover Saturday, but he shouldn't need much more time than that before returning to the lineup. Josh Smith and Sam Haggerty are the most likely candidates to take Carter's place in center field while he sits.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Returns from injured list

The Rangers reinstated Carter (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list, and he's starting in center field and batting eighth Tuesday against the Rays. Carter has been sidelined since May 16 due to a Grade 2 quadriceps strain, but he's ready to rejoin the Rangers after a three-game rehab stint with Triple-A Round Rock. The 23-year-old has played in just 11 big-league games so far this season and is batting .182 (6-for-33) with a home run and three stolen bases.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Serves as DH on rehab

Carter (quadriceps) started at designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Carter played a second game on his rehab assignment. He played center field for six innings Friday. Carter potentially could be activated for Tuesday's series opener against the Rays.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Beginning rehab stint

Carter (quadriceps) reported to Triple-A Round Rock to start a rehab assignment Friday. The 22-year-old has been out the past couple weeks due to quadriceps strain but has now been cleared for game action. Carter shouldn't require a lengthy stay in the minors before rejoining Texas since his absence has been relatively brief.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Out with Grade 2 strain

The Rangers placed Carter on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right quadriceps strain. The 22-year-old was scratched from the starting nine ahead of Saturday's 5-1 win over the Astros due to the injury and finds himself on the injured list a day later. According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Carter is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and is expected to be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Sam Haggerty and Kevin Pillar are likely to see most of the playing time in center field while Carter is on the shelf.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Scratched from lineup Saturday

Carter has been removed from the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Houston due to a quadriceps injury. Carter was originally slated to start in center field, but he's since been replaced by Sam Haggerty. According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Carter is dealing with right quad tightness, though manager Bruce Bochy called the outfielder's late scratch cautionary. Landry also reports that Carter was already slated to begin on the bench Sunday, and with the Rangers off Monday, that means Carter will get three total days of rest before potentially returning to action Tuesday versus the Yankees.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Poised for return to majors

The Rangers will recall Carter from Triple-A Round Rock prior to Tuesday's game in Boston, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Carter failed to earn an Opening Day roster spot and got off to a sluggish start with Round Rock, but he had begun to heat up in his last 12 games, slashing .271/.327/.500 with two home runs and three stolen bases. With Leody Taveras on outright waivers and Josh Smith a better fit as a super-utility player, Carter should get an opportunity to be the Rangers' primary center fielder, at least against right-handed pitching. Texas is tentatively scheduled to face all righties this week.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Injures hand at Triple-A

Carter was removed Tuesday in the eighth inning of Triple-A Round Rock's 16-3 loss to Oklahoma City after his hand was struck by a pitch on a bunt attempt, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. The Rangers haven't provided word whether Carter suffered a fracture or is merely dealing with bruising and/or soreness, but even a minor injury would likely be enough to take him out of consideration for a call-up if Wyatt Langford -- who exited Texas' 10-6 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday due to oblique tightness -- requires a stint on the injured list. Even before getting hurt, Carter hadn't gained much momentum in his bid to return to the big leagues; he's gotten off to a 2-for-22 start to the season at Triple-A, though his 7:7 K:BB over 29 plate appearances has been promising.
