  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Day off against Skubal

Mullins is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Tigers. It's lefty ace Tarik Skubal on the bump for the Tigers, so the left-handed-hitting Mullins will receive a day off. Colton Cowser will slide over to center field and Dylan Carlson will handle left field for the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Activated by Orioles

The Orioles activated Mullins (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Mullins has been shelved since late May by a right hamstring strain but has been cleared to return to action after taking live at-bats Sunday. He will be skipping a rehab assignment. Colton Cowser and Jorge Mateo had been handling center field while Mullins was out, but Cowser will move to a corner-outfield spot now and Mateo will likely operate mostly in a reserve role.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Takes live at-bats

Mullins (hamstring) took live at-bats Sunday and is expected to return to the Orioles during the upcoming week, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Mullins has been out of action since May 28 due to a right hamstring issue. The veteran outfielder resumed running last week and could be ready for activation during Baltimore's upcoming homestand, which begins Tuesday against Detroit. While Mullins has been out, Colton Cowser and Jorge Mateo have been handling center field duties for the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Out with hamstring strain

The Orioles placed Mullins on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 29, due to a right hamstring strain. It's not yet known when exactly Mullins suffered the injury, but he sat out two games at the start of the week for rest purposes before rejoining the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals, and he went 2-for-4 with a steal and two runs in that contest. According to Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com, the outfielder was diagnosed with a mild strain and could return when first eligible June 8. Cooper Hummel was added to the big-league roster in a corresponding move, and he could see action in center field while Mullins is out, along with Dylan Carlson and Jorge Mateo.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Resting against another righty

Mullins is being rested for a second game in a row Tuesday against the Cardinals, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. The lefty-hitting Mullins typically plays against most lefties and all righties, yet he's now sat in three of the last four games -- all against righties. Mullins is hitting .211 with two home runs, one steal and a 33.3 percent strikeout rate over the last 10 games. Jorge Mateo is getting a rare start against a righty in Mullins' place.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Bumped down lineup

Mullins will start in center field and bat sixth against the Angels on Saturday. Mullins has occupied the leadoff spot for the majority of the season. He has struggled at the plate as of late (1-for-26 with a solo home run and seven strikeouts over his last seven games), which has prompted Orioles manager Brandon Hyde to move the 30-year-old center fielder down in the batting order. Jackson Holliday will serve as Baltimore's leadoff hitter for Saturday's contest.

Dylan Carlson will take over for Mullins in center field Sunday.

Last year, it took him 11 games to collect seven hits and 15 games to reach 10 RBI.

The 30-year-old outfielder struggled during spring training while batting .136 (6-for-44) with one homer and five RBI, but he should play close to an everyday role in center field this season and could even work his way up Baltimore's batting order if his bat continues to heat up.
