Giants' Matt Chapman: Sitting down Tuesday
Chapman isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Chapman will get a breather Tuesday after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's series opener. He'll be replaced at third base by Casey Schmitt, who will bat seventh against Royals starter Michael Lorenzen.

Giants' Matt Chapman: Multi-hit effort in loss
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored during Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Twins.
The third baseman cracked a double into right field in the fourth inning before coming around to score on a two-run home run by Heliot Ramos. Chapman also singled in the eighth. With that, the 32-year-old notched his ninth multi-hit game of the 2025 campaign and his third in May. He has now logged at least one hit in seven of his last 10 outings, slashing .306/.375/.611 with nine runs scored, eight RBI, three homers and two doubles across 40 plate appearances in that span.

Giants' Matt Chapman: Surging to begin May
Chapman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Twins.
Chapman smashed his third homer already in the month of May. Over his last 29 at-bats, the veteran third baseman is batting a strong .310 with three big flies, eight RBI, eight runs scored and one stolen base. Chapman has now reached base safely in eight consecutive outings, and his 29 walks on the campaign rank third in the major leagues.

Chapman lined his fifth double of the season into left field off right-hander Colin Rea in the fifth inning. The third baseman singled on a grounder to shortstop Trea Turner in the ninth inning, beating the throw to first and driving in Mike Yastrzemski for the Giants' final run. The RBI single marked Chapman's first hit since the club's win over Seattle on April 5.
