  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Swipes first bag of year

Taylor went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Phillies. Starting in center field and batting seventh, Taylor drew a free pass off a struggling Jordan Romano in the sixth inning and promptly got himself into scoring position with his first steal of 2025. Taylor's been a near-everyday player for the Mets since Jose Siri (lower leg) was injured, but he hasn't done much with the opportunity, batting .235 (8-for-34) over his last 10 games with two RBI, six runs and a 1:8 BB:K.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Not starting Saturday

Taylor is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Cardinals on Saturday. Taylor will take a seat Saturday after starting in the Mets' last six games, going 4-for-20 with three runs scored and one RBI over that span. Jose Azocar will start in center field for the Mets and bat ninth against Cardinals southpaw Matthew Liberatore.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: May get everyday role sans Siri

Taylor could receive the bulk of the starts in center field after Jose Siri was diagnosed with a fractured tibia Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Taylor and Siri made eight starts apiece in center through the Mets' first 16 games, with neither player performing well enough to seize the everyday role. Though Siri's absence will clear the way for Taylor to potentially emerge as a mainstay in the lineup, the Mets have some alternatives if the 31-year-old is unable to dramatically improve upon his .158/.179/.211 slash line. Brandon Nimmo made 22 starts in center in 2024 and Luisangel Acuna made 31 starts in center at Triple-A Syracuse last season, though both players would likely represent defensive downgrades from Taylor. Jose Azocar, Gilberto Celestino and Billy McKinney have all made starts in center field at Syracuse this season, and it wouldn't be surprising if one of those three players received a call-up Tuesday as the corresponding move to Siri being placed on the injured list.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Sitting down Saturday

Taylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics. After starting the season with a .308 OPS through 26 plate appearances, Taylor will get another day off Saturday to regroup while Jose Siri starts in center field and bats eighth.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Resting Friday

Taylor isn't in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Athletics. Taylor will get a breather after starting three consecutive games in center field, during which he went 2-for-12 with an RBI. Jose Siri will take his place and bat ninth.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Drawing second straight start

Taylor will start in center field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game against the Marlins. After going 2-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 2-0 win, Taylor will be awarded a second consecutive start. Though the Mets' center-field situation appears to be fluid, manager Carlos Mendoza seems to be prioritizing Taylor at the moment while Jose Siri has slashed .059/.200/.118 through the team's first 10 games.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Idle against right-hander again

Taylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. For the second game in a row, Taylor will hit the bench while the opposition sends a right-hander to the mound. The Mets' center-field situation appears to be fluid, but for now, Jose Siri may be a slightly favored option over Taylor after Siri made an impact in his team debut Saturday in Houston by going 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Idle Saturday

Taylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros. Taylor started both of the Mets' first two games in center field, but he'll give way to Jose Siri on Saturday. The two players are expected to split time in center field somewhat evenly this season, though Taylor's .700 OPS last season compared to Siri's .621 may give the former a slight edge.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Starts in center field Opening Day

Taylor is starting in center field and batting seventh in Thursday's opener versus the Astros. Taylor and Jose Siri could split reps in center field fairly evenly for the Mets, but it was Taylor getting the first crack at the position Opening Day. The 31-year-old collected a .701 OPS with seven homers and 11 steals across 130 regular-season contests for the Mets last season.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Out two months after dual surgeries

Taylor will be sidelined two months following hernia surgery on Oct. 30 and surgery Thursday to remove a loose body from his right elbow. It's unclear when Taylor suffered the injuries. While the rehab will interrupt his offseason workout routine, Taylor should be ready to go for the start of spring training. The 30-year-old tentatively appears in line to start in center field for the Mets next season, although that could certainly change based on the team's offseason additions.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Out of Game 4 lineup

Taylor is not in the lineup Thursday for Game 4 of the NLCS against the Dodgers. Taylor had started each of the last five games and nine of 10 contests this postseason, but he will begin Thursday's festivities on the bench as the Mets look to even the series. Harrison Bader is in center field and batting eighth.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Not starting Sunday in Game 2

Taylor is out of the lineup Sunday for Game 2 of the NLDS against the Phillies. Taylor started in center field in Game 1 and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He'll give way in the lineup Sunday to Harrison Bader against Phillies lefty Cristopher Sanchez.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Getting breather

Taylor isn't in the Mets' lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. After going 0-for-4 against his former team Friday, Taylor will take a seat on the bench Saturday while Harrison Bader patrols center field, batting eighth.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Taking on regular role

Taylor will start in center field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Phillies. Taylor will pick up his seventh start in eight games and may have settled into a regular spot in the lineup at the expense of J.D. Martinez, who is in the midst of an 0-for-30 stretch at the plate and will take a seat for the second day in a row. Dating back to the second week of September, Taylor is slashing .385/.484/.654 with one home run, one stolen base, six runs and three RBI over a stretch of 11 games.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Back on bench Wednesday

Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles. Taylor had started in center field over Harrison Bader in both of the Mets' last two matchups with right-handed pitchers, but Bader is manning center field for the second time in the series while New York faces off against a lefty (Cole Irvin). Manager Carlos Mendoza hasn't indicated that the two outfielders have moved into a platoon, though Bader's ongoing slump might have opened up more opportunities for Taylor in the short term. Bader has gone 3-for-28 over his last 12 games heading into Wednesday.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Drives in three Sunday

Taylor went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Monday's win over the Cardinals. The veteran outfielder slapped a bases-loaded double down the right-field line in the fifth inning, giving the Mets some insurance runs in a 6-0 victory. Taylor got a rare start in right field against right-hander Andre Pallante with Jesse Winker getting a breather and Jeff McNeil needed at second base, but he's mostly fallen into a short-side platoon role since Winker was acquired. Taylor's been productive of late when called on though, batting .306 (11-for-36) over his last 12 games with three doubles, a homer, a steal, five RBI and seven runs.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Returning to bench Sunday

Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Taylor had started in each of the Mets' last three games, but one of those starts came against a lefty, and another came while Harrison Bader was getting some rest coming off an ankle injury. With the Mets outfield at full strength, Taylor looks to be fourth in line for playing time behind Brandon Nimmo, Jesse Winker and Bader.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Goes deep in three-hit game

Taylor went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 12-3 win over the Yankees. Taylor provided a surprise spark from the bottom of the lineup, going yard in the third inning and adding an RBI single in the sixth. The outfielder has hit modestly in July, going 11-for-45 (.244) with six extra-base hits over 15 contests this month. For the season, he's at a .233/.274/.401 slash line with six homers, 25 RBI, 30 runs scored, six stolen bases, 10 doubles and three triples across 216 plate appearances. Taylor may see a short-term uptick in playing time while Harrison Bader recovers from a rolled ankle he sustained Tuesday.

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Taking seat Sunday

Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. Taylor has been operating as the Mets' primary right fielder since Starling Marte (knee) landed on the injured list June 25, but he'll exit the starting nine Sunday to clear a spot for DJ Stewart. Thus far during Marte's absence, Taylor is hitting just .162 over 10 games, but five of his six hits during that stretch have gone for extra bases (three home runs, two doubles).

  • Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Heading to bench Sunday

Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. In the wake of Starling Marte's (knee) move to the injured list, Taylor had settled into a regular role in right field. Taylor started each of the last four games, going 3-for-14 with two home runs, two walks, five RBI and an additional two runs. He'll cede his spot in the outfield to DJ Stewart in the series finale.
