Willy Garcia: Released by White Sox
Garcia (wrist) was released by the White Sox on Friday.
Garcia has been dealing with wrist soreness over the past few weeks, and recently began a wrist strengthening program in order to get back into game shape. He will now start looking for a new home after being let go by Chicago as the club begins cutting down the roster for Opening Day. In 2017, Garcia hit .238/.305/.400 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 44 games. Even if he's able to latch on with another organization in the near future, Garcia may head to Triple-A to begin the 2018 campaign.

White Sox's Willy Garcia: Begins wrist strengthening program
Garcia began a wrist strengthening program Wednesday and will look to ramp up his activity in the coming days, James Fegan of The Athletic Chicago reports.
Garcia's next step will be hitting off a tee and participating in batting practice before finally getting on the field for a Cactus League game. There doesn't seem to be any set timetable for him, but the club doesn't appear to be particularly concerned about his status.

Garcia is wearing a brace on his left wrist and has been practicing in a limited capacity to avoid further aggravating the injury. The team hasn't given any indication that Garcia's ailment is serious, but more news should be available as spring training progresses.

Garcia (hamstring) isn't in the lineup Sunday against the Indians.
After straining his hamstring Wednesday, no further news surfaced that Garcia's health was trending in the right direction. He'll now aim to be back in full health for the 2018 campaign, as he finishes the season with a .238 batting average and .705 OPS that was built over 44 games.

White Sox's Willy Garcia: Lifted with hamstring strain
Garcia was removed from Wednesday's game against the Angels with a left hamstring strain, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Garcia appeared to tweak his hamstring while attempting to beat out a grounder in the eighth inning, and he was subsequently replaced by Rymer Liriano in the top of the ninth frame. He's currently being listed as day-to-day, though it wouldn't be surprising if he didn't play again this season given how few games are left.

Garcia started in left field and went 0-for-3 in Sunday's 12-0 loss to the Tigers.
Garcia made his first start after missing 45 games while recovering from a fractured jaw. He filled in for Nicky Delmonico (rest) and had the misfortune of facing Detroit left-hander Matthew Boyd, who no-hit the White Sox over 8.2 innings before losing his bid when Tim Anderson doubled off him. The 24-year-old Garcia, who is not considered a top prospect in the organization, will use the final two weeks of the season to try and earn a spot on next season's 25-man roster.

He fractured his jaw in a July collision with Yoan Moncada and also suffered a concussion. The 25-year-old will return to a part-time role for the rebuilding Pale Hose. Garcia holds a meager .258/.317/.441 line with two homers in 105 plate appearances.

Garcia (jaw) will head to Low-A Kannapolis to start a rehab assignment.
Garcia has been out since the end of July after fracturing his right jaw during a collision with Yoan Moncada. The outfielder may only spend a few games with Kannapolis before returning to the big-league club, as the Low-A team is set to begin a best-of-three set against Greensboro on Thursday for their playoff matchup.

Garcia is back to eating solid foods, though he's not expected to return anytime soon from the concussion list while his fractured jaw heals, Paul Skrbina of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Garcia suffered a fractured jaw July 31 when he collided with second baseman Yoan Moncada. He's expected to be out until September, though it's possible the White Sox grant Garcia plenty of recovery time, given that he's lost some strength to go with the unpredictable nature of concussions. If he does return, Garcia's role will be limited.

Garcia (jaw, concussion) said Tuesday that he's lost around 10-to-20 pounds since undergoing surgery to repair his fractured jaw, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports
The White Sox announced last week that Garcia, who also suffered a concussion while taking a knee to the face from teammate Yoan Moncada in a July 31 game, would need 4-to-6 weeks to recover from the jaw procedure, but that may be a conservative estimate at this point. Since he has yet to resume eating solid food after undergoing surgery, Garcia has already lost a lot of strength, and it could take some additional time for him to regain conditioning and muscle mass once he's cleared for baseball activities. If he's able to make it back from the DL at some point in September, don't expect Garcia to handle much more than a part-time role in the outfield.

Tests taken Wednesday revealed Garcia (concussion) has a fractured right jaw that will require surgery. He is expected to miss around 4-to-6 weeks.
Garcia, who is already on the 7-day disabled list, suffered the injury following a scary collision with Yoan Moncada during Monday's game against the Blue Jays. This is tough news for the 24-year-old, as he's set to have a plate inserted into his jaw in the coming days, a procedure that will keep him out until mid-September and could ultimately sideline him for the remainder of the regular season. Nicky Delmonico will continue to see reps in the outfield while Garcia and Avail Garcia (thumb) are both on the mend.

Garcia was initially diagnosed with a contusion after he took a knee to the head from second baseman Yoan Moncada while both players pursued a fly ball in Monday's game against the Blue Jays, but team trainers determined hours later that the outfielder was experiencing concussion symptoms. Until he passes through all phases of the MLB protocol for concussion, Garcia will be barred from taking part in full baseball activities, making it difficult to project a timetable for his return. The White Sox selected the contract of Nicky Delmonico from Triple-A Charlotte to fill Garcia's spot on the active roster.
