Wade is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Diamondbacks on Monday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade struggled at the plate during the Giants' three-game weekend series against the Twins, going 0-for-9 with a walk and three strikeouts. He'll begin Monday's game in the dugout while Wilmer Flores starts at first base and bats fifth.... See More ... See Less

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Notches sixth double of 2025
Wade went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Cubs. Wade lined an RBI double into right field off right-hander Ben Brown, driving in the first of two runs in the fourth inning. The lefty-hitting first baseman has shown improvement after a lackluster start to the season, recording at least one hit in four of his last five games. Wade is now slashing .158/.259/.267 with 13 RBI, nine runs scored, eight extra-base hits and a 14:26 BB:K across 117 plate appearances this year.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle vs. lefty
Wade is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Cubs on Monday. With the Cubs sending southpaw Matthew Boyd to the mound, the lefty-hitting Wade will begin Monday's game in the dugout while David Villar starts at first base and bats seventh. Wade has gone 7-for-28 with one run scored and four RBI over his last nine games.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting down against lefty
Wade isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade will step out of the lineup Thursday with southpaw Kyle Freeland set to take the mound for Colorado. David Villar will start at first base instead and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Logs fourth double of 2025 in loss
Wade went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double and a walk during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Padres. Wade lined a two-run double into left field in the sixth, capping a three-run inning for San Francisco. With that, the 31-year-old infielder recorded his first extra-base hit since April 11, his fourth double of the 2025 campaign. Wade has supplied a hit in three of the Giants' last five games, slashing .200/.333/.267 with a 3:1 BB:K across 18 plate appearances during that span.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Logs single in loss
Wade went 1-for-3 in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Rangers. Wade recorded a single in the fifth inning after going 0-for-6 in the Giants' previous two games. The 31-year-old has struggled at the plate to begin the 2025 campaign, failing to record a hit in 18 of his 23 games. Wade is slashing .104/.238/.224 with eight RBI, seven runs scored, five extra-base hits and a 12:21 BB:K across 81 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: On bench versus lefty
Wade is not in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Brewers. Wade will get some rest Tuesday as the Brewers send lefty Jose Quintana to the mound. The first baseman started off the series against the Brewers on Monday going 1-for-3 with a walk. With the 31-year-old on the bench, David Villar has the start at first base and is batting seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Not starting vs. southpaw
Wade is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 31-year-old started Friday against Halos lefty Tyler Anderson after Casey Schmitt (oblique) was scratched from the lineup, marking Wade's first start of the season versus a southpaw. He'll return to the bench Sunday with left-hander Yusei Kikuchi taking the mound for Anaheim, opening up first base for David Villar.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Enters Friday's lineup
Wade will start at first base and bat ninth Friday against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade was originally due to get a day off Friday against left-handed starter Tyler Anderson, but an injury to Casey Schmitt (side) will force the 31-year-old back into the starting nine. Wade is 0-for-4 against southpaws so far this season and owns a .559 OPS against them across his big-league career.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle against southpaw
Wade is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Angels on Friday. The Angels are sending southpaw Tyler Anderson to the mound, so the lefty-hitting Wade will begin Friday's contest on the bench while Casey Schmitt starts at first base and bats sixth. Wade has been cold at the plate, going 1-for-26 with seven walks, three runs scored, three RBI and 13 strikeouts over his last nine games.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting against left-hander
Wade isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The lefty-hitting Wade will step out of the starting nine Thursday while southpaw Cristopher Sanchez starts on the mound for Philadelphia. Casey Schmitt will pick up a start at first base and bat fifth while Wade rests.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle against southpaw
Wade is not in the Giants' lineup against the Yankees on Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. With the Yankees sending Carlos Rodon to the mound, the lefty-hitting Wade will begin Sunday's game in the dugout while Casey Schmitt gets the start at first base and bats seventh. Wade has struggled of late, going 1-for-21 with one run scored, three walks, three RBI and nine strikeouts over his last seven outings.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Knocks in three runs Friday
Wade went 1-for-3 with one run scored, two walks and three RBI in Friday's 9-1 rain-shortened win over the Yankees. Wade played a big role in chasing Marcus Stroman in the first inning, when the former smacked a double to right field to bring home Matt Chapman and Heliot Ramos. Wade brought home another run in the sixth frame when he drew a bases-loaded walk at the top of the sixth inning in what was ultimately the final play of the game due to inclement weather. Wade entered Friday's game having gone 0-for-15 with seven strikeouts over his last five games and was demoted from leadoff to the sixth spot in the lineup for this game.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Demoted to six hole Friday
Wade is starting at first base and batting sixth in Friday's contest against the Yankees. Each of Wade's first nine starts this season came from the leadoff spot, but he's been demoted -- at least temporarily -- after going hitless across his last five games. Mike Yastrzemski has been elevated to the leadoff spot for the Giants on Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Rough start continues Monday
Wade went 0-for-4 during Monday's 2-0 loss to the Reds. Wade struck out twice Monday and is currently tied for the team-worst mark in strikeouts (13) over the club's first 10 outings. The 31-year-old started the season 0-for-16 in his first five appearances, though he had a two-game stretch in which he went 4-for-7 with a home run and two additional runs. However, Wade's struggles have continued in the Giants' last three games, as he's gone 0-for-11 while striking out six times. He's slashing .118/.162/.324 with four extra-base hits in 38 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Three extra-base hits Friday
Wade went 3-for-6 with a triple, two doubles, one walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Mariners. Wade was 0-for16 over his first five games of the season, but it looks like his bat is waking up. He has four extra-base hits over the last two contests -- he hit his first home run of the season Wednesday in Houston and showed off with a strong game atop the order Friday. Power isn't necessarily a huge part of his game, however, as he slugged just .381 last season, though he got on base at a .380 clip last year thanks to a 15.8 percent walk rate. Wade will likely function as a strong-side platoon option at first base for the bulk of 2025, and his on-base skills position him well as a leadoff option in that role.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Belts first home run of 2025
Wade went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Astros. Wade began the game on the bench against left-handed pitcher Framber Valdez, with Casey Schmitt receiving the starting nod at first base. However, Wade pinch hit for Schmitt in the eighth frame, giving the Giants a three-run lead with a 364-foot solo shot off right-hander Ryan Gusto. The homer marked Wade's first hit on the season, and he now has a .059/.056/.235 slash line with two RBI and five strikeouts across 19 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Not in lineup against southpaw
Wade is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Houston. Left-hander Framber Valdez will start for the Astros, so the lefty-hitting Wade will begin the series finale on the bench. Casey Schmitt will fill in at first base and bat fifth.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Likely to bat leadoff vs. righties
Wade is expected to begin the regular season batting leadoff against right-handed pitchers, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports. While Wade doesn't possess the speed of a prototypical leadoff batter, his ability to draw walks has made him a top candidate for the role. The 31-year-old's .219 batting average during spring training is unimpressive, though he has drawn 10 walks, resulting in a .422 on-base percentage. "He's got that kind of eye," manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday. "It's really unique in the game. We're seeing it again this spring. We feel pretty good about him in the leadoff spot." Wade has primarily been utilized at first base but made five starts in the outfield last season. If he bats leadoff against right-handed pitchers, Jung Hoo Lee will likely slide into the three-hole.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Homers twice in win
Wade went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Saturday's 9-0 win over the Royals. Wade took Brady Singer deep twice to register his first multi-homer effort of the season. The 30-year-old has been productive through 15 September contests, logging four multi-hit efforts, homering three times and driving in 10 runs. On the season, he is hitting .267 with eight long balls, 33 RBI, 44 runs scored and two steals across 378 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less
