The Philadelphia Eagles had their worst season in 15 years, so there are lots of holes to fill, including, of course, head coach. But the Eagles also need to upgrade their secondary and their offensive line, too.

The biggest problem wasn't even that the Eagles lost so many games as much as how they lost them -- with too many mistakes and not enough effort. It all added up to the worst Eagles season since 1998.
The Eagles began the year with such high expectations, which makes their dismal season even worse. A bunch of high-priced free agents were supposed to lift them up, but instead they dragged them down and that eventually cost coach Andy Reid his job.
There could be a surprise visitor to Lincoln Financial Field next season -- former Eagles coach Andy Reid is a prime candidate to fill openings in Arizona and San Diego and both of those teams play in Philadelphia in 2013.
Even bad teams have good players, even most valuable players. And on a team as bad as the Eagles were this season, special consideration goes to anyone who made it through all 16 games with his hide and pride intact.
Andy Reid gave quarterback Michael Vick a second chance to play in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, and the two became much closer than a normal coach-player relationship. Vick was naturally upset that Reid was fired as the Eagles' head coach on Monday, but he wasn't mad at owner Jeffrey Lurie as much as he was at some of his teammates for making Lurie's decision inevitable.
Some of the Eagles players were sad because the only NFL coach they've ever known was telling them that he had been fired. And others were mad because it was their lackadaisical play that caused Andy Reid to be fired after 14 seasons as Eagles coach.
There are a lot of nice perks that come with being a professional football coach, and the pay is nice, too. But job security isn't one of those perks, as the Eagles' coaching staff is about to find out.
