Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Subpar showing Monday
Vejmelka stopped nine of 13 shots in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Red Wings.
Vejmelka was in goal for four of the Red Wings' five goals in this contest, with the remaining one being an empty-netter scored by Alex DeBrincat at the 17:06 mark of the third period when Utah was pushing for a late comeback. Vejmelka has been up and down in recent games, going 3-3-0 with a 3.20 GAA and a subpar .861 save percentage across his last six outings.

Hockey Club's Dylan Guenther: Scores in loss to Detroit
Guenther scored a goal in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Red Wings.
Guenther has found the back of the net in two of Utah's last three games, and he continues to set milestones in what has been a breakout season for the 21-year-old. He's recorded nine points (six goals, three assists) in his last 15 outings, and this solid stretch of play has allowed him to reach the 50-point threshold for the first time in his career. Over 59 regular-season contests, Guenther has notched 26 goals and 24 assists while also adding 22 PIM, 177 shots, 41 hits and 36 blocked shots.

Vejmelka will defend the home crease against the Red Wings on Monday, Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Vejmelka has seen plenty of playing time recently and has picked up wins in four of his last six outings, going 4-2-0 with a 2.83 GAA and .884 save percentage during that time. He'll attempt to remain effective against the Red Wings, who rank 22nd in the NHL with 2.83 goals per game this season.

Hockey Club's Michael Kesselring: Nabs assist Saturday
Kesselring produced an assist and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Lightning.
Kesselring snapped a seven-game point drought with the primary helper on Logan Cooley's first-period tally. It's no surprise Kesselring's offense has dipped late in the season -- he's averaging just 14:50 of ice time per game since the start of February, compared to 19:05 per game prior to that point when Utah had more injuries on the blue line. Kesselring has still put together a career year with 26 points, a plus-9 rating, 78 hits, 59 blocked shots, 74 PIM and 130 shots on net through 70 appearances.

Hockey Club's Lawson Crouse: Posts helper Saturday
Crouse managed an assist, two shots on goal and five hits in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Lightning.
Crouse's helper ended his seven-game point drought. The 27-year-old winger has had numerous cold spells during the season, but he's remained in a fairly consistent third-line role despite the struggles. For the season, he's at 15 points, 110 shots on net, 157 hits, 38 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating through 69 appearances. Crouse is more of a category specialist for fantasy managers who need a boost in hits -- he's racked up 29 of them over his last 10 contests, picking up the pace compared to his overall rate this season.

Hockey Club's Josh Doan: First goal in 14 games
Doan scored a goal Saturday in a 6-4 win over Tampa Bay. He also put up six hits.
He went five hole on Brandon Halverson in the first period to put Utah up 1-0. It was Doan's first goal in 14 games (five assists). The young forward is finding his way this season after surprising everyone with nine points in 11 appearances in 2023-24. This year, Doan has just 15 points, including five goals, in 39 contests. Although he had six hits Saturday, that was an anomaly -- he had just 29 in 38 games prior to this win. Doan doesn't really contribute in secondary categories.

Hockey Club's John Marino: Two helpers in win
Marino put up two assists Saturday in a 6-4 win over the Lightning.
It was his second two-assist game in his last five outings. Marino has been more than solid in his return to the Utah lineup. He's played in just 28 games, and he has one goal and 10 assists. Marino isn't much of a fantasy contributor, but he sure helps stabilize the Hockey Club's back end.

Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Warming trend continues
Vejmelka made 22 saves in an 6-4 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Vejmelka has won two straight games, and he's 9-3-2 in his last 14 appearances (13 starts). Overall, he's elevated his season stat line to a 21-18-6 record, 2.53 GAA and .907 save percentage. Those are the best ratios of Vejmelka's NHL career. Fantasy managers need to ride the hottest hand at this time of the year, and Vejmelka is surging.

Hockey Club's Nick Schmaltz: New career mark for assists
Schmaltz had a goal and two assists in a 6-4 victory over Tampa Bay on Saturday.
His goal came on a backhand early in the third; it stood as the winner. Schmaltz reached the 40-assist mark for the first time in his career; he put up 39 last season in Arizona. He also hasn't gone more than one game without a point in 14 outings since the 4 Nations Face-Off. Schmaltz has points in 10-of-14 games, with six goals, eight assists and 37 shots. That brings him up to 57 (17 goals, 40 assists) in 70 appearances overall.

Hockey Club's Alex Kerfoot: Just four points in last 19 games
Kerfoot scored two goals in a 6-4 win over the Lightning on Saturday.
Despite his impressive showing against Tampa Bay, Kerfoot has just three goals and one assist in his last 19 games. He also has just 20 points (10 each) and 87 shots in 70 games in his first season in Utah, which makes him a poor fantasy asset. It's a bad time to see Kerfoot's production drop relative to his 45-point effort in 2023-24, given his free agent status at the end of the year.

Hockey Club's Logan Cooley: Joins impressive list of snipers
Cooley scored twice and added an assist in a 6-4 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday.
He now has a career-high 21 goals on the season. Cooley became the fifth active U.S.-born player to record multiple 20-goal seasons at age 20 or younger. Who are the others? It's a pretty impressive group: Brady Tkachuk (2019-20 and 2018-19), Auston Matthews (2017-18 and 2016-17), Jack Eichel (2016-17 and 2015-16) and Patrick Kane (2008-09 and 2007-08). Cooley is also on a four-game, six-point streak that includes four goals after a six-game point drought. This kid is going to be a fantasy building block.

Hockey Club's Michael Carcone: Adds another helper
Carcone managed an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Sabres.
Carcone's assist streak is up to four games after he helped out on Dylan Guenther's game-winning tally in the third period. The 28-year-old Carcone is getting better looks on offense by playing on the second line at even strength, though he still remains fairly limited overall -- he hasn't exceeded 12 minutes of ice time in any of the last eight contests. He's at 18 points, 72 shots on net, 46 hits, 36 PIM and a minus-4 rating through 49 outings overall.

McBain produced an assist, four hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Sabres.
McBain has four points over his last eight outings, as well as 29 hits in that span. He continues to bring some heavy play to a third-line role, though he can also chip in a bit of depth scoring from time to time. This season, he has 21 points, 76 shots on net, 238 hits, 68 PIM and a plus-5 rating over 69 appearances.

Hockey Club's Barrett Hayton: Gathers helper in win
Hayton logged an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Sabres.
Hayton set up Dylan Guenther's game-winning tally at 14:13 of the third period. This ended a three-game slump for Hayton, who has seven points over his last 10 outings while filling a top-six role. The 24-year-old center is up to 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists), 133 shots on net, 38 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 69 appearances. If he remains steady down the stretch, he'll have a good chance to top his career-high 43-point effort from 2022-23.

The 29-year-old winger is up to 54 points, 154 shots on net, 37 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating through 69 outings. Schmaltz remains on pace to reach the 60-point mark for the second year in a row.
