Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Won't play Saturday
Crosby (upper body) won't play against Philadelphia on Saturday, according to Adam Kimelman of NHL.com.
Crosby will miss his second straight game. His availability for the 4 Nations Face-Off is unclear, but the 37-year-old forward skated ahead of Saturday's game and feels much better. Crosby has compiled 17 goals, 58 points, 51 hits and 156 shots on net through 55 appearances this season. Due to Crosby's absence, Rickard Rakell will probably center the top line again in Saturday's matchup.

Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Won't play Friday
Crosby (upper body) will not be in the lineup versus the Rangers on Friday. According to head coach Mike Sullivan, the team is "taking it one day at a time," per Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff.
Crosby's absence from the lineup seemed likely after the Penguins recalled Emil Bemstrom from the minors early Friday. It looks like Rickard Rakell will shift to the center spot on the first line alongside Bryan Rust and Anthony Beauvillier for the time being. Given Sullivan's comment, Crosby should be considered day-to-day ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Flyers -- a team Crosby has tormented throughout his career to the tune of 133 points in 88 games.

Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Skates Thursday
Crosby (upper body) completed a solo skating session Thursday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports.
Crosby wasn't on the ice with his teammates for Thursday's practice session but is at least working to maintain his conditioning. Head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters that the world-class center was still being evaluated for his upper-body injury and that the club hoped to know more Friday. At this point, fantasy managers should probably consider Crosby questionable heading into Friday's tilt with the Rangers.

Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Absent from practice Wednesday
Crosby is being evaluated for an upper-body injury that kept him out of practice Wednesday, Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site reports.
Crosby missed about 10 minutes of the Penguins' 3-2 loss to the Devils on Tuesday before returning to the game. The 37-year-old center still logged 22:14 of ice time in that contest while extending his point streak to five games with a helper. With Evgeni Malkin (lower body) still on the shelf, the Penguins would be extremely thin at center if Crosby were to miss Friday's matchup with the Rangers. In that scenario, Cody Glass could be deployed as the first-line center with Kevin Hayes also elevated to a top-six role.

Crosby had a goal, an assist and put four shots on net in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Predators.
The Penguins' captain showcased his signature slap shot from one knee to bury the puck past Juuse Saros in the second period. Crosby's helper came on linemate Bryan Rust's empty netter late in the contest. Through 54 appearances this season, the 37-year-old center has 17 goals, 40 assists and 152 shots on goal. With 57 points on the season, he remains in the top 20 across the league. The Penguins have 28 games left on the docket for their regular season, and Crosby is just off the pace to hit the 90-point mark, which he reached in each of the previous two seasons. However, Pittsburgh's superstar has six points in his last four games, so he's been picking up the pace recently.

Crosby scored the game-winning goal, added an assist, logged three hits and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.
Crosby cut across the top of the crease and buried a backhand shot for the game-winning goal 3:50 into overtime. The center has four goals and three assists over his last six outings. For the season, the 37-year-old is up to 16 tallies, 39 helpers, 148 shots on net, 48 hits and a minus-17 rating through 53 appearances.

Crosby dished two assists, one on the power play, in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.
The future Hall of Famer helped set up tallies by Michael Bunting in the second period and Rickard Rakell in the third, but Crosby couldn't beat Elvis Merzlikins in the shootout. Crosby hasn't gone consecutive games without getting onto the scoresheet since late October, and over the last 12 contests he's surged for three goals and 17 points. On the downside, Crosby's minus-12 rating on the season would be the worst mark of his career, as would his 9.0 percent shooting, but some slippage in the 37-year-old's skills isn't a big surprise.

Crosby has one goal and two assists over his three-game point streak, but he's been very productive over the last few weeks. Crosby scored a goal and added three assists in a 5-4 overtime win over the Predators on Thursday.
The goal snapped a 10-game drought. Crosby had 10 helpers in that span, though, and he has 35 points in 34 games this season. Sid's 8.7 shooting percentage is well below his career 14.4. It's the lowest shooting percentage of all top-25 scorers outside Quinn Hughes (6.9) and the lowest of all forwards in the top-50. All that to say, Crosby's sniping will climb soon.
