Makar scored two goals on six shots, added an assist, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-4 win over the Oilers.
Makar's second goal was a shorthanded tally, and his assist came on the power play. The 26-year-old defenseman is one of the hottest players in the league over the last three weeks, racking up nine goals and four assists over his last 11 outings. He's now at 22 goals, 63 points (26 on the power play, two shorthanded), 175 shots on net, 91 blocked shots and a plus-18 rating through 57 appearances.

Avalanche's Cale Makar: Secures 20-goal, 60-point campaign
Makar scored a goal on eight shots, dished a power-play assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Flames.
Makar's tally early in the second period tied the game at 1-1. He also helped out on Martin Necas' goal late in that frame. Makar has reached the 20-goal mark for the third time in the last four seasons, and he's also secured his fourth straight 60-point season. He's collected 169 shots on net, 89 blocked shots and a plus-16 rating. Makar would need to pick up the pace a little bit to match his 90-point 2023-24 regular season.

Avalanche's Cale Makar: Logs helper in victory
Makar produced a power-play assist in a team-high 26:51 of ice time in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Flyers.
Makar earned the primary helper on Nathan MacKinnon's 20th goal of the season late in the middle frame. Makar has had the goal-scoring touch of late, but he has only four helpers over his last 16 outings. That trend is unlikely to continue, considering Makar is one of the best playmakers in the world. The star defenseman is at 19 goals, 58 points and a plus-15 rating through 54 appearances this campaign. Makar and the Avalanche will kick off a three-game road trip in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Avalanche's Cale Makar: Tallies on power play
Makar scored a power-play goal and blocked two shots in Friday's 5-0 win over the Blues.
Makar has been finding twine regularly of late, scoring six times and adding an assist over his last seven contests. His goal Friday stretched the Avalanche's lead to 4-0. Makar is up to 19 tallies, 57 points (23 on the power play), 155 shots on net, 86 blocked shots, 40 hits and a plus-15 rating through 53 appearances. Makar could have a chance to take a run at the 30-goal mark in 2024-25 -- only one defenseman (Mike Green for the Capitals in 2008-09) has achieved that mark in the salary cap era.

Avalanche's Cale Makar: Trio of points
Makar scored two goals in the first period and dished the game-winning assist in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Rangers.
Makar's performance featured a bit of everything -- he added two shots on net, two blocked shots and two PIM to his impressive offensive stat line. He broke a 2-2 tie late in the first period with a power-play goal on feeds from Nathan MacKinnon and newly acquired forward Martin Necas. Makar also showed his ability on both sides of the puck by picking up a steal before dishing to Artturi Lehkonen for the game-winner. The 26-year-old blueliner is up to 18 goals, 38 assists and 151 shots on goal in 51 appearances this season. The 2022 Norris Trophy winner is in the conversation for the award again in 2024-25. Makar leads all defensemen in goals and will look to add to his campaign totals Tuesday against the Islanders.

The snipes included his 100th goal, coming in his 362nd game. Makar is the sixth-fastest defenseman in NHL history to reach the milestone. George Boucher (223), Bobby Orr (299), Paul Coffey (300), Ray Bourque (329) and Denis Potvin (348) were the five fastest. On another note, Makar blocked a wrist shot off the inside of his left ankle during the game, and while he seemed to shake it off, it could be worth monitoring.

Makar registered an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.
Makar helped out on Parker Kelly's opening goal in the first period. This game wasn't all good for Makar -- he mishandled a pass that led to Sam Carrick tying the game on a shorthanded breakaway later in the opening frame. Makar has four points over seven outings in January, but his helper Tuesday snapped a season-worst four-game slump. He has a total of 50 points, which ranks him tied for first with the Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski. Makar has 20 power-play points, 134 shots on net, 71 blocked shots, 37 hits and a plus-13 rating over 45 appearances.

Colorado's big dogs combined for the team's lone goal. Makar picked up the secondary assist before Nathan MacKinnon set up Mikko Rantanen midway through the first period. Makar has points (two goals, two assists) in three consecutive outings. Both he and MacKinnon have heated up since the beginning of December, which coincided with the Avalanche's best stretch of the season. Makar has 17 points while MacKinnon has 22 over the last 15 games, during which the Avs are 11-4-0.

Makar didn't find the back of the net in his last two games, but he bounced back in this one with a huge offensive output.
