Brian Lewerke: Waived by Big Blue
New York waived Lewerke on Wednesday, Michael Eisen of the Giants' official site reports.
Lewerke spent the majority of last season on the Giants' practice squad and earned a futures deal at the end of the campaign. His dismissal leaves Davis Webb as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart behind Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor.

Giants' Brian Lewerke: Earns futures deal
Lewerke agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Giants on Monday, Michael Eisen of the Giants' official site reports.
Lewerke signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2020. He then joined the Giants in training camp after getting cut loose by New England. Lewerke was bumped up to the active roster for Week 18 to back up Jake Fromm but remained on the sidelines.

Giants' Brian Lewerke: Elevated for finale
Lewerke was elevated from the Giants' practice squad Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Lewerke has spent the entire season on the Giants' practice squad, though Sunday should mark his first game being active. With both Mike Glennon (wrist) and Daniel Jones (neck) sidelined, Lewerke is likely to serve as Jake Fromm's backup.

Brian Lewerke: Sent to waivers

Giants' Brian Lewerke: Signs with Giants
Lewerke agreed to a contract with the Giants on Sunday, agent Mike McCartney reports.
The combination of Mike Glennon and Clayton Thorson failed to reach 100 yards through the air in the preseason opener against the Jets with starter Daniel Jones sitting out, so the Giants have opted to shake things up in their quarterback room. Lewerke will likely compete with Thorson for the third-string quarterback role and could see some playing time in Week 2 of preseason against the Browns.

Brian Lewerke: Cut by Pats
New England waived Lewerke on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Lewerke never had a real shot at making the final team, with all of Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer around, but he could be a candidate to resurface on the practice squad.

Patriots' Brian Lewerke: Back with New England
The Patriots have re-signed Lewerke, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Lewerke, whom the Patriots originally signed as an undrafted free agent back in April, was let go by the team just days ago, but he's back in the fold now as QB depth/insurance in advance of training camp practices. He's firmly behind Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer in the team's signal-caller pecking order, however.
