The Chargers had the worst third-down defense in the league last season. They allowed opponents to convert 96 of 195 attempts for an unacceptable conversion rate of 49 percent. Coach Norv Turner has made improving third-down defense a top priority this offseason. This has included the signing of free agent OLB Jarrett Johnson (Saints) and the selection of DE Kendall Reyes (round two, 49th overall pick). Turner dedicated 15-minutes to practice to third-down situations on Monday, which has been typical of OTA practices.
