Several starters will be missing when the New York Jets take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night. S Yeremiah Bell (knee) and DL Mike DeVito were injured in practice earlier in the week. TE Jeff Cumberland continues to recover from a concussion sustained during the team's Tuesday night's scrimmage.
In addition, NT Sione Po'uha is still dealing with lower-back tightness that has kept him out of action for the last couple of weeks. S Eric Smith has a sprained MCL and WR Chaz Schilens has a high ankle sprain, both of which occurred during the first preseason game against the Bengals. Schilens injury could put his future on the roster in doubt as he also pulled a hamstring during the offseason, so the team has not been able to see a lot of him on the field.
The remaining inactive players include, CB Ellis Lankster (quad), CB Ryan Steed (unknown), LB Ricky Sapp (ankle), OL Dennis Landolt (knee) and LB Brett Roy (unknown).
