Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Poor shooting in loss
Pippen recorded two points (1-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Sunday's 131-80 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Pippen was one of many players on the Grizzlies who had an off night in Game 1 against the Thunder. The talented guard went 1-for-9 from the field Sunday, as he was unable to get anything going in an embarrassing 51-point loss in Oklahoma City.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Scores nine points in loss
Pippen supplied nine points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, five assists and one steal in 34 minutes before fouling out of Tuesday's 121-116 Play-In Game loss to Golden State.
Ja Morant tweaked his ankle in the loss, though the star guard insists he won't miss any time. However, if Morant's ankle gets the best of him, Pippen could be forced into a much larger role for the Grizzlies. Pippen is coming off a strong regular season, posting averages of 9.9 points, 4.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 three-pointers across 79 appearances.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Starting in Play-In Game
Pippen will start in Tuesday's Play-In Game against Golden State, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
The 24-year-old guard will supplant Vince Williams in the starting five on Tuesday. Pippen has started in five outings since the All-Star break, averaging 15.0 points, 6.4 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 1.8 steals across 27.8 minutes per game in those five matchups.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Off injury report for Tuesday
Pippen (back) is off the injury report for Tuesday's Play-In Game against the Warriors.
Pippen missed the club's regular-season finale in Sunday's win over the Mavericks due to low back soreness, though he's set to return for Tuesday's Play-In Game. The 24-year-old has averaged 13.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 25.5 minutes per game in his last 10 outings (three starts).

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Out Sunday
Pippen (back) won't play Sunday against the Mavericks.
As expected, Pippen has been downgraded from doubtful to out, along with most of the Grizzlies' regulars. There's been no indication that the backup point guard won't be available for the Play-In Tournament, though Memphis' opponent is to be determined.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Doubtful to play Sunday
Pippen is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Mavericks due to low back soreness.
The Grizzlies have already locked up a spot in the Play-In Tournament, so there's no point in risking some of their regular rotation members. The doubtful tag suggests Pippen might not play, and if he ends up being ruled out, Cam Spencer, John Konchar and Vince Williams could see more time in the backcourt. Other players such as Luke Kennard (knee), Desmond Bane (groin) and Ja Morant (shoulder) are also carrying doubtful tags.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Reverting back to bench Tuesday
Pippen won't start in Tuesday's game against the Hornets, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports.
The 24-year-old point guard will retreat to the bench due to Ja Morant (illness) returning from a one-game absence. Pippen has averaged 12.6 points, 4.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 22.8 minutes per contest in his last five outings (one start).

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Starting over Morant
Pippen is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pistons, Jonah Dylan of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
Ja Morant was announced as a starter roughly 30 minutes before the 7 p.m. ET tipoff, but he was later ruled out with an illness, and now, Pippen will get the nod over him instead. In 20 starts this season, Pippen is averaging 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.7 steals across 26.6 minutes per game.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Provides spark off bench
Pippen posted 17 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, seven assists, one block and two steals in 27 minutes during Thursday's 110-108 victory over the Heat.
Pippen was Memphis' leading bench scorer while tallying a team-high seven assists during Tuesday's victory. Pippen has proven to be one of the league's most productive backup point guards recently, as he has averaged 13.3 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 24.9 minutes across his previous 10 outings. The 24-year-old guard has also posted 53.2/52.8/82.4 shooting splits over that span.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Struggles in loss
Pippen supplied five points (2-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal in 17 minutes during Monday's 117-103 loss to the Celtics.
Pippen has been a solid contributor for the Grizzlies this season but failed to make an impact in Monday's loss against the Celtics. This was the first time the 24-year-old guard failed to crack double digits in the scoring column in his last seven games. Most of that production came when Ja Morant was sidelined, as Pippen has totaled just 35 minutes off the bench in the past two games after averaging 27.3 minutes per contest over his prior nine appearances (three starts).

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Retreating to bench Saturday
Pippen is not in the Grizzlies' starting lineup against the Lakers on Saturday.
Pippen started in Memphis' last three games due to the absence of Ja Morant and averaged 16.0 points, 7.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals over 27.3 minutes per game over that span. Morant has been given the green light to return from a six-game absence due to a hamstring injury, which will shift Pippen to the bench for Saturday's contest.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Sniffs triple-double
Pippen posted 17 points (5-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in 31 minutes during Thursday's 125-104 loss to Oklahoma City.
Pippen was impressive in his third straight start due to the absence of Ja Morant (hamstring), and the former continues to show he can handle a bigger role in the rotation when needed. Pippen is having an absolute career-best season in 2024-25. He's scored in double digits in all but one of his last nine outings (three starts) while averaging 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 3.1 steals-plus-blocks per game in that stretch. As if that wasn't enough, Pippen is also shooting an impressive -- yet unsustainable -- 53.1 percent from three-point range over that nine-game stretch.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Pops for 15 in Friday's start
Pippen chipped in 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 27 minutes during Friday's 128-108 loss to the Clippers.
Making his first start since March 1, Pippen drained more than two three-pointers for the first time since Feb. 5. The third-year guard has scored in double digits in six of his last seven appearances, averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 assists, 3.6 boards, 2.3 steals, 1.7 threes and 0.9 blocks over that stretch in 27.3 minutes a contest.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Will start vs. LAC
Pippen will be in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Clippers, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
Pippen will make his 18th start of the season for the Grizzlies with Ja Morant (hamstring) still on the mend. The Vanderbilt product is averaging 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a starter during the 2024-25 campaign.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Posts 18 points in return to action
Pippen logged 18 points (7-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists and two steals in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 115-99 loss to the Trail Blazers.
The Grizzlies began the game with Luke Kennard at the point, but he quickly gave way to Pippen, who returned after a one-game absence. Kennard and Pippen are usually the first man up when Ja Morant (hamstring) is out, although Pippen is usually the first choice when healthy. While his results pale compared to Morant, he's a serviceable source of assists and points when he sees at least 25 minutes.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Will play Wednesday
Pippen (wrist) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
After missing Monday's loss to the Kings with a wrist injury, Pippen will return to the lineup for the Grizzlies in Portland. The 24-year-old's role has been more consistent lately, averaging 11.3 points, 4.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals in 24.3 minutes per game across his past 10.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Questionable for Wednesday
Pippen (wrist) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Pippen missed Monday's loss to the Kings due to left wrist soreness, although that was just the second time he missed a game in 2024-25. With Pippen questionable and Ja Morant (hamstring) out, Luke Kennard is expected to see more minutes in the backcourt.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Dealing with wrist injury
Pippen is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Kings due to left wrist soreness.
Pippen likely sustained the injury during the Grizzlies' 125-91 win over the Heat on Saturday. With Ja Morant (hamstring) sidelined Monday, Pippen will be slated to see a heavier workload if he's available to play. If Pippen is also out, however, the Grizzlies would likely turn to Luke Kennard and Desmond Bane to take on most of the ball-handling responsibilities.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Won't go Monday
Pippen (wrist) has been ruled out for Monday's game against Sacramento.
Pippen will miss just his second outing of the season due to left wrist soreness. His next chance to play will come Wednesday against Portland. Luke Kennard will likely see an uptick in playing time due to Pippen being sidelined.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Double-doubles off bench
Pippen produced 11 points (4-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, 11 assists, one block and two steals across 29 minutes during Saturday's 125-91 win over the Heat.
Luke Kennard got the start at point guard due to the absence of Ja Morant (shoulder), but Pippen ended up delivering an excellent stat line. He was the primary playmaking option off the bench and orchestrated the offense beautifully when on the court, which led to him recording double-digit assists for the eighth time this season. As good as he was Saturday, however, Pippen's role remains inconsistent, and his minutes would shrink considerably if Morant is able to return Monday against the Kings.
