Peterson tallied seven points (2-5 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes Monday in the Celtics' 108-89 win over the Heat.
After playing just eight total minutes through the Celtics' first 19 games of the season, Peterson has now handled 25- and 26-minute workloads off the bench in Boston's last two contests. A two-way player, Peterson was a standout performer in his two G League stops in 2023-24 and has continued to shine with the Maine Celtics over five appearances in 2024-25, but playing time at the NBA level only recently opened up due to Boston holding out Jaylen Brown and Derrick White in Sunday's loss to the Cavaliers and Jrue Holiday (knee), Kristaps Porzingis (foot), Al Horford (toe) and Sam Hauser (personal) on Monday. All four of those players could return to action for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, so Peterson is likely to find himself back outside of the rotation rather than getting another 20-plus-minute role.

Peterson agreed to a two-way contract with the Celtics on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Peterson was recently made a restricted free agent after Boston extended him a qualifying offer, and he's set to remain with the Celtics on a two-way deal that will allow him to move between the G League and parent club easily. Over 34 regular-season appearances with the G League's Maine Celtics last year, he averaged 16.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 35.4 minutes per game.

The Celtics extended a qualifying offer to Peterson on Saturday, making him a restricted free agent, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
The Celtics did the same for Neemias Queta, giving the organization the option to match opposing offers in free agency. Peterson made just three appearances for the Celtics in 2024-25, playing 7.7 minutes per contest.

Peterson signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Peterson wasn't selected during Thursday's draft, but he'll have an opportunity to compete for a job with the Heat on a deal that will allow the team to convert his contract to a two-way deal before the regular season. During his final season at USC, he averaged 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 35.9 minutes per game.
