76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Returning to bench Sunday
Dowtin will come off the bench during Sunday's game against Dallas.
The two-way combo guard will retreat to the second unit due to Quentin Grimes (illness) returning to game action. Dowtin has averaged 16.2 points, 2.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 25.0 minutes per contest over his last five outings (one start).

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: First start of NBA career Friday
Dowtin is in the 76ers' starting lineup against the Pacers.
Dowtin has seen his minutes increase over the last week due to the absences of Paul George (groin) and Tyrese Maxey. With Kelly Oubre (ankle), Justin Edwards (ankle) and Quentin Grimes (illness) also out Friday, Dowtin will make the first start of his NBA career alongside Jared Butler in the frontcourt. Dowtin is coming off a career-best 20-point performance Wednesday against the Raptors.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Impresses in first career start
Dowtin chipped in 24 points (11-20 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals over 40 minutes during Friday's 112-100 loss to Indiana.
Dowtin made the first start of his NBA career Friday and made the most of the opportunity, leading the Sixers in scoring and also leaving his mark across the board with an excellent all-around showing. Dowtin should have upside as long as the 76ers remain depleted, but it's uncertain if he'll stay in a starting role in the coming games. He's likely to experience a sizable regression in his minutes once Tyrese Maxey (back) is ready to return, which might happen at some point in the coming days.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Career-high 20 points Wednesday
Dowtin logged 20 points (9-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three assists, two rebounds and two steals over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 118-105 win over the Raptors.
Even with Kelly Oubre (ankle) returning from a one-game absence, Dowtin still saw plenty of minutes off the bench after Lonnie Walker left in the first quarter of Sunday's game due to a head injury. Dowtin took advantage of the opportunity and turned in a career-best scoring performance. Dowtin has played at least 27 minutes in each of his last two outings, and the 27-year-old has assumed a bigger role for the Sixers due to the absences of Paul George (groin) and Tyrese Maxey (back). The two-way player is eligible to be active for just eight of the 76ers' remaining 17 games, so he'll likely have some unexpected inactive statuses in the contests to come, even if George, Maxey and others remain sidelined.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Continues productive stretch
Dowtin closed with 17 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal over 28 minutes during Monday's 132-123 loss to the Hawks.
The two-way guard was included in the rotation for the sixth game in a row and saw his second-most minutes of the season while the 76ers were without eight players due to injury. Dowtin's playing time will likely take a hit once the likes of Tyrese Maxey (back), Kelly Oubre (ankle) and Paul George (groin) return to action, but Dowtin should make for an appealing deep-league streaming option in games where the 76ers are holding out multiple key backcourt pieces. Since the beginning of March, Dowtin is averaging 9.7 points, 2.2 assists, 1.7 three-pointers and 1.7 rebounds in 17.0 minutes per contest. Dowtin has been active for 41 games with the 76ers this season, so he'll be eligible to suit up in only nine of the team's remaining 18 contests, unless he's upgraded to a standard NBA contract.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Drops 27 points in G League loss
Dowtin chipped in 27 points (11-22 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block across 40 minutes during Friday's 118-107 G League loss to the Greensboro Swarm.
Dowtin joined the Blue Coats for the first time since Feb. 4, finishing as the club's second-leading scorer in an efficient performance. The two-way combo guard has received double-digit minutes in four consecutive contests for the parent club, during which he has averaged 7.8 points, 2.3 assists and 1.5 rebounds across 15.5 minutes per contest.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Sticks in rotation as backup PG
Dowtin tallied 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes in Monday's 119-102 loss to the Trail Blazers.
For the second game in a row, Dowtin received double-digit minutes and delivered an efficient shooting line. The 76ers appear to be prioritizing him as a reserve point guard over Jared Butler, who was limited to just five minutes. With Tyrese Maxey (back) exiting Monday's contest early and at risk of missing time, Dowtin could be the next man up to enter the starting five. The 76ers may have to be judicious with Dowtin's usage over their final 22 games, however. Dowtin is a two-way player who has already been active in 37 games at the NBA level this season, so he can suit up for the 76ers just 13 more times.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Scores career-high 18 points
Dowtin totaled 18 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 118-102 loss to the Thunder.
The 76ers were supremely shorthanded Tuesday, paving the way for Dowtin to not only move into the rotation, but to also see his most minutes of the season. He made the most of the extra playing time, turning in a career-best scoring performance while supplementing his line with decent peripheral numbers. The potential returns of Paul George (ankle), Tyrese Maxey (hand) and Caleb Martin (groin) as soon as Wednesday against the Knicks could result in Dowtin's minutes taking a significant hit.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Used sparingly in loss
Dowtin posted zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in four minutes during Wednesday's 114-106 loss to Cleveland.
Dowtin suited up for the fourth straight game, albeit for just four minutes. Having played at least 20 minutes in each of the two previous games, Dowtin had been serving as a consistent piece in the rotation. However, given he has played fewer than five minutes in each of the other four games in which he has suited up, it seems the coaching staff is going to call on him only as a last resort.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Not starting vs. Atlanta
Dowtin won't start Monday's preseason game against the Hawks.
Dowtin got a spot start during Saturday's game against Boston, which was the second night of a back-to-back set, but he will return to his usual reserve role Monday. He made 12 regular-season appearances for Philadelphia last season.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Starting vs. Boston
Dowtin is in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason contest against the Celtics.
The Sixers are resting most of their starters and veterans for this game, so Dowtin will be part of a young first unit. He'll start this preseason contest alongside KJ Martin, Jared McCain, Ricky Council IV and Guerschon Yabusele.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Lands two-way deal
Dowtin agreed to a two-way contract with the 76ers on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Dowtin spent the 2023-24 campaign with Philadelphia, but the 76ers declined his $2.2 million team option for the 2024-25 season in late June. He remained with the team for Summer League play, averaging 17.1 points and 5.7 assists. He'll compete for a role with the organization during camp this fall.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Contract converted to standard deal
The 76ers converted Dowtin's two-way contract to a standard deal Thursday.
Dowtin has been playing for the G League's Delaware Blue Coats this year and signed a two-way deal with the team in early March. He impressed for the G League club and will be rewarded with a standard contract late in the regular season.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Leads team in assists Wednesday
Dowtin amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), six assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block over 24 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 115-109 loss to the Grizzlies.
Playing his second NBA game of the season, Dowtin was pushed into a much larger role than expected with Tyrese Maxey (concussion), Kyle Lowry (rest) and De'Anthony Melton (back) all missing from the Sixers' backcourt. The 26-year-old journeyman responded by leading the team in assists and tying for the team lead in steals while chipping in a little offense of his own. Lowry could be back in the lineup as soon as Friday against the Pelicans, but Dowtin's performance might have been good enough for him to hang onto a spot in the regular rotation in the short term.

76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Nabs two-way deal with Philly
Dowtin agreed to a two-way deal with the 76ers on Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Dowtin has been playing for the G League's Delaware Blue Coats this season, averaging 21.4 points and 7.0 assists over his last 12 games. He previously played under Nick Nurse in Toronto, so Dowtin has some familiarity with his new coach. With the 76ers shorthanded, Dowtin has a path to playing time, but he's not guaranteed an NBA role right away.

Jeff Dowtin: Let go by Toronto
Dowin was waived by the Raptors on Friday, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet reports.
This isn't a big surprise, as Dowtin's non-guaranteed deal was due to be partially guaranteed on Saturday. The 76ers hold Dowtin's G League rights, so there's a good chance he ends up in Philadelphia.

Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Good to go Friday
Dowtin (ankle) is available for Friday's preseason finale against Washington, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.
Dowtin had been dealing with an ankle injury, but it appears he's moved past the issue. While he'll be available, there's no guarantee Dowtin will see any playing time, as Toronto has its entire roster available and will presumably use the final exhibition as a dress rehearsal for the regular season.

Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Remains out Tuesday
Dowtin (ankle) didn't play in Tuesday's 106-102 preseason win over the Bulls.
It's unclear if Dowtin's absence is due to still recovery from ankle surgery or a removal from Toronto's rotation. Either way, his next chance to suit up is Friday's preseason matchup with Washington.
