  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Secures one-out save Friday

Foley recorded the last out of Friday's 4-1 win over the White Sox to earn the save,

Tyler Holton was pitching well and possibly could have been asked to retire one more batter with a three-run lead, but the Tigers didn't mess around with a chance to secure an AL Wild Card spot. Foley did his part to kick-start the celebration by securing his 28th save of the season and seventh in the last two weeks. The righty has been a big piece of his team's surprise success this year, pitching to a 3.15 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 60 innings. Foley will clearly have a high-leverage role in the postseason now as well.

  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Up to 27 saves

Foley earned the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over Tampa Bay, striking out a pair in a scoreless ninth inning.

Foley's now converted 12 of his last 13 save opportunities, allowing just four earned runs over 16.2 innings in that span. The right-hander is up to 27 saves on the season with a 3.17 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 46:20 K:BB across 59.2 innings.

  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Secures key save Sunday

Foley pitched a clean ninth inning with a strikeout to record the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.

With Detroit winning and Minnesota losing twice Sunday, the Tigers moved into the last AL wild-card spot for the moment. Foley has been a key part of the team's recent surge, as he now has 26 saves this season, including four in the last week. Expect Detroit to keep leaning on its closer in the final week of the regular season as the club battles for a playoff berth.

  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Records another save Tuesday

Foley pitched a perfect 10th inning to record the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Royals.

For the second straight night, Foley made quick work of Kansas City to wrap up a critical win for the Tigers as they continue their playoff push. The righty needed 13 pitches to record his 24th save on Monday and needed just 11 pitches to secure save No. 25 on Tuesday. Foley has only allowed two earned runs over his last 22 appearances, and he's lowered his ERA to a tidy 2.97 in the process. Southpaw Tyler Holton is seeing some save opportunities in the right matchups, but Foley is still the top closing option in Detroit's bullpen most days.

Foley earned the save against the Royals on Monday, striking out one over a perfect ninth inning.

  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Locks down 23rd save

Foley earned the save Sunday, striking out two over 1.1 perfect innings against the Orioles.

Foley was called upon to finish out the eighth inning after an Adley Rutschman homer brought the Orioles to within one. He struck out Coby Mayo, then retired the side in the ninth to finish off his 23rd save of the season. It was a nice rebound effort for Foley, who had allowed two runs in his last appearance, the first time he had allowed an earned run since the end of July.

  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Takes loss Thursday

Foley (3-6) allowed two runs on two hits across an inning of work to take the loss Thursday against the Rockies.

A day after recording his 22nd save of the season, Foley was less effective in a non-save situation Thursday. The righty entered in a 2-2 game and allowed his first earned runs in an appearance since July 30. Foley's recent success and his 3.15 ERA overall should keep him locked in as Detroit's primary closer, though lefty Tyler Holton has also been good, and the latter should continue to see some save opportunities in the right matchups.

  • Tigers' Jason Foley: Slams door Wednesday

Foley pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Rockies. He walked one and struck out two.

While Tyler Holton has worked his way into the closer mix with seven saves this season, Foley has recorded Detroit's last two saves, and he now has a team-high 22 for the year. The righty doesn't miss a ton of bats, as he has only 40 strikeouts across 53.1 innings, but he's been effective in his role nonetheless. With the Tigers scrapping to stay in contention for a playoff spot, Foley should continue to see plenty of high-leverage work in the season's final few weeks.
