Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Strong showing Wednesday
Winn went 5-for-8 with a home run, two walks, three RBI and three runs scored as the Cardinals split Wednesday's doubleheader with the Phillies.
Winn did most of his damage in a 4-for-5 performance in the nightcap, which included a solo home run and a pair of RBI singles. The shortstop has hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 10-for-28 (.357) with two homers and seven RBI in that stretch. His big performance Wednesday lifted him to a .281/.371/.465 slash line with five homers, 15 RBI, 23 runs scored and two stolen bases over 33 contests this season. Aside from brief absences for back spasms and an ankle sprain, Winn has unsurprisingly been an everyday presence in the Cardinals' lineup this year.

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Aiming to return Tuesday
Winn was encouraged by how his sprained left ankle felt Monday and is hoping to return to the Cardinals lineup Tuesday against the Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Winn is absent from Monday's starting nine after spraining his ankle in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Mets, but he expects to be available off the bench as a potential defensive replacement and aims to be fully cleared Tuesday. Jose Barrero will draw the start at shortstop for St. Louis on Monday.

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Ankle sprain considered mild
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that the left ankle sprain that forced Winn from the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Mets is "mild" in nature, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Winn initially remained in the game after getting injured during the third inning, but he was replaced in the field prior to the fifth inning after the ankle swelled up. Winn looks poised to avoid a stint on the 10-day injured list, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he gets a day or two of rest.

Winn exited Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets in the top of the fifth inning with a left ankle sprain, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Winn twisted his ankle in the bottom of the third inning when he tripped over third base while avoiding a collision with third baseman Mark Vientos. Winn was able to tough it out for another frame but ultimately had to exit the contest, bringing his night to a close after going 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in the game. Jose Barrero replaced him at shortstop, and the severity of Winn's injury is currently unclear.

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Sitting out early game
Winn is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets.
Since returning to action April 22 following a stint on the injured list due to a back issue, Winn has been one of the hottest hitters in the Cardinals lineup, slashing .333/.390/.611 over his last 10 games. The shortstop has settled in as St. Louis' No. 2 hitter, but manager Oliver Marmol said that the 23-year-old will get some preventative maintenance for his back in the first game of the twin bill, per John Denton of MLB.com. Jose Barrero will fill in for him in the matinee, but Marmol confirmed that Winn will be back in the starting nine for the nightcap.
