Kwan put on a hitting display Saturday, notching three hits in a game for the seventh time on the season. The 27-year-old continues to show great bat-to-ball skills, evidenced by an 8.7 percent strikeout rate, the fourth lowest in MLB, and the fact that he has only two fewer walks (21) than strikeouts (23). The left-handed leadoff hitter is slashing .314/.375/.435 on the season with 14 doubles and 21 RBI on the season.

Kwan doubled and singled in the third and fourth frames, respectively, before cutting the deficit to one run in the sixth on a solo home run to right field. It was the sixth time this season that Kwan has recorded at least three hits in a game, and four those games have come in May. He'll finish the month with a .308/.374/.413 slash line, four steals, eight doubles, one home run and five RBI in 115 plate appearances.

Kwan departed Wednesday's matchup with the Dodgers due to right wrist inflammation, but he's good to go after the Guardians' team day off Thursday. The 27-year-old's production in May has taken a small step back after he posted an .836 OPS in his first 30 games of 2025, but he still has a .298/.371/.372 slash line with three steals, four RBI and 10 runs in 24 contests this month.

Kwan played all nine innings of Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Rays in the series opener, then was scratched from the lineup Friday before sitting out Saturday and Sunday. The Guardians initially attributed Kwan being scratched Friday due to general body fatigue, but back soreness has since been identified as the cause of his absence. The team appears to be viewing Kwan as day-to-day heading into its four-game series with the Twins that begins Monday.
