  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Rare day off Wednesday

Kwan is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Reds. The Guardians are facing lefty Nick Lodolo on Wednesday, marking the third straight day they've gone up against a southpaw. The lefty-swinging Kwan will get a rare day off in the series finale, after going hitless in the first two games against Cincinnati. Nolan Jones will start in left field and bat sixth as the Guardians try to avoid a sweep.

Kwan went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored during Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Astros in 10 innings. Kwan put on a hitting display Saturday, notching three hits in a game for the seventh time on the season. The 27-year-old continues to show great bat-to-ball skills, evidenced by an 8.7 percent strikeout rate, the fourth lowest in MLB, and the fact that he has only two fewer walks (21) than strikeouts (23). The left-handed leadoff hitter is slashing .314/.375/.435 on the season with 14 doubles and 21 RBI on the season.

  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Ready to play Friday

Kwan (wrist) is starting in left field and batting leadoff Friday against the Angels. Kwan departed Wednesday's matchup with the Dodgers due to right wrist inflammation, but he's good to go after the Guardians' team day off Thursday. The 27-year-old's production in May has taken a small step back after he posted an .836 OPS in his first 30 games of 2025, but he still has a .298/.371/.372 slash line with three steals, four RBI and 10 runs in 24 contests this month.

  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Lifted from game Wednesday

Kwan was removed from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers for unknown reasons, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Kwan was replaced by Nolan Jones in left field following the third inning, but it's unclear what prompted the change. Considering Kwan's everyday role and elite production, it's likely due to some injury or illness. We'll likely receive an update later Wednesday.

  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Getting rare day off

Kwan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. With opening pitch for Sunday's game at 11:35 a.m. EDT and ace lefty Tarik Skubal on the hill for the Tigers, Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt likely decided that it was an ideal time to give the left-handed-hitting Kwan his first day off this season.
