The Athletics signed Dodson to a minor-league contract Wednesday.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Dodson: Traded to Dodgers

Dodson was sent from the Rays to the Dodgers on Friday in exchange for Luke Raley, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Dodson cruised to a 3.20 ERA in 56.1 innings split across the High-A and Double-A levels last season, striking out 26.3 percent of opposing batters. He also played some outfield, but his two-way days could be over with his new organization after he grabbed just one hit while striking out 14 times in 25 at-bats last season.

  • Rays' Tanner Dodson: Returns from IL

High-A Charlotte reinstated Dodson (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Friday.

Dodson had been sidelined since April 18 due to the unspecified issue but returned to action Sunday in a 9-1 loss to Jupiter. He went 0-for-4 while serving as Charlotte's starting center fielder, and the 21-year-old could soon resume seeing action on the mound when he's not included in the lineup. Prior to getting hurt, Dodson made four appearances (two starts) for Charlotte, giving up four runs (three earned) on 13 hits and five walks over nine innings.
