Jenkins (ankle) went 0-for-1 with two walks Tuesday while playing for the FCL Twins during a rehab assignment. Jenkins suffered a sprained left ankle early in spring training but was able to return in time for the start of the Double-A season. However, he injured the ankle again after the team's first two games. He then received a cortisone shot for a high ankle sprain at the end of April. The top prospect could return to Double-A later in June.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Still weeks away from playing
Jenkins, who received a cortisone shot for a left high ankle sprain at the end of April, is still a couple of weeks away from returning, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Jenkins suffered a sprained ankle early in spring training but was able to return in time for the start of the Double-A season. However, he injured the ankle again after the team's first two games and hasn't played since. It's new information that Jenkins suffered a high ankle sprain, so his extended absence makes more sense. It wouldn't be surprising if he's not back at Double-A until July at this point.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Receives injection
Jenkins (ankle) received a cortisone injection Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Jenkins has been on the injured list at Double-A Wichita since April 9 due to a sprained left ankle. His injection will help aid in the healing process, but the Twins don't expect him to return to action before the end of May. How far his absence extends beyond that will depend on how quickly he progresses through his rehab.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Lands on IL due to ankle sprain
Jenkins was placed on Double-A Wichita's 7-day injured list Wednesday due to a left ankle sprain, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. It's the same injury that caused Jenkins to be sidelined during spring training. He appeared in two games for Wichita before aggravating the injury, going 1-for-8 with two strikeouts in that span. It's unclear how long Jenkins will spend on the IL while rehabbing from his injury.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Healthy to begin Double-A season
Jenkins (ankle) has played in two of Double-A Wichita's first three games of the season, going 1-for-8 with two strikeouts. Jenkins suffered a sprained ankle in spring training, but the injury wasn't significant enough for him to begin the season on Wichita's 7-day injured list. The fifth overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Jenkins boasts a well-rounded skill set and could see his long-term outlook improve if he's able to tap into more game power while staying healthy in 2025.... Twins' Walker Jenkins: Dealing with sprained ankle
Jenkins is roughly 1-to-2 weeks behind after suffering a mild ankle sprain last week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Jenkins was sidelined for roughly two months last season due to a hamstring injury, though his sprained ankle doesn't seem to be nearly as serious. He may have to miss a few games during spring training, though the Twins don't believe his availability for the start of the minor-league season will be affected.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Promoted to High-A
The Twins promoted Jenkins from Single-A Fort Myers to High-A Cedar Rapids on Monday. Jenkins' 2024 debut lasted one plate appearance before a strained left hamstring cost him two months, but since returning to action for Fort Myers in early June, he's been outstanding. The 19-year-old delivered elite walk (18.7 percent) and strikeout (11.2 percent) rates and slashed .279/.408/.426 over 152 plate appearances at Single-A to earn the promotion.... See More ... Twins' Walker Jenkins: Returns from hamstring injury
Jenkins (hamstring) was activated from the 7-day IL and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's win for Single-A Fort Myers. He batted second and played center field. Jenkins made just one plate appearance for Single-A Fort Myers before straining his left hamstring and landing on the 7-day injured list on April 9. He hit .393 (11-for-28) with a 1.085 OPS during nine rehab games for the Twins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. As one the top prospects in baseball heading into the season, Jenkins was thought to be in store for a brief pit stop at Fort Myers to begin the season before heading to High-A Cedar Rapids, but the injury could slow his ascent through the Twins' farm system.... Twins' Walker Jenkins: Begins rehab assignment
Jenkins (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with the Twins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports. Jenkins made just one plate appearance for Single-A Fort Myers before straining his left hamstring and landing on the 7-day injured list. As one the top prospects in baseball heading into the season, Jenkins was thought to be in store for a brief pit stop at Fort Myers to begin the season before heading to High-A Cedar Rapids, but the injury could slow his ascent through the Twins' farm system.... Twins' Walker Jenkins: Lands on IL with strained hamstring
Jenkins was placed on the 7-day injured list Monday with Single-A Fort Myers due to a strained left hamstring. He exited Friday's game with the injury, which also happened to be Opening Day for the Mighty Mussels, so Jenkins has just one plate appearance (and one strikeout) to his name this season. The expectation is that once Jenkins is healthy, he will quickly force a promotion to High-A, as he had a 1.054 OPS in 12 games at Single-A last year and is one of the best prospects in baseball.... Twins' Walker Jenkins: Leaves game with hamstring injury
Jenkins left Single-A Fort Myers' game Friday against Tampa early with a hamstring issue, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Jenkins missed some time in spring training due to a quadricep strain, so it's less than ideal that he's dealing with another soft-tissue injury coming out of Fort Myers' first game of the season. He struck out in his lone at-bat Friday before departing.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Nursing quad strain
Jenkins won't play Saturday in the Twins' Spring Breakout game against the Rays due to a quadricep strain, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Jenkins is still able to hit but was scratched because he's not able to run at full speed. The top prospect is expected to be good to go by the time the minor-league season begins in early April. Jenkins dominated during a short stint at Single-A Fort Myers in 2023 but could head back to the affiliate to start the 2024 season, given that he just turned 19 less than a month ago....
