  • Marlins' Thomas White: Returns to action for High-A club

White (finger) struck out three and allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk over two innings in his start Friday with High-A Beloit. White was out of commission for three weeks due to a left index finger injury, but he was cleared to slot back into the Beloit rotation Friday, albeit on a limited workload. Through seven starts at High-A this season, the 20-year-old southpaw owns a 3.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB over 27 innings.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Dealing with finger injury

White has missed his last two scheduled starts at High-A Beloit due to soreness in his left index finger but remains on a throwing program, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports. White, the Marlins' top pitching prospect, hasn't pitched in a game since May 9 due to lingering pain in his left index finger. Although he remains on a throwing program, there isn't a clear timetable for his return to game action. The 20-year-old lefty has posted a 3.24 ERA in 25.0 innings with Beloit this season.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Racking up Ks at High-A

White struck out eight and gave up two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings Friday for High-A Beloit. The 20-year-old southpaw is the Marlins' top pitching prospect, and he's having little trouble getting whiffs against Midwest League hitters. White has fanned at least seven batters in three straight starts, and while he's also issued multiple walks in all six of his outings so far in 2025, he has yet to serve up a homer. The 35th overall pick in the 2023 First-year Player Draft has a 3.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 37:16 K:BB through 25 innings, and a promotion to Double-A could be in the cards this summer if he can tighten up his control just a touch.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Finishes age-19 season strong

White threw exactly five innings in each of his final eight starts for High-A Beloit, logging a 2.25 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 40 innings over that stretch. The lanky 6-foot-5 southpaw seemingly got better as the season went on, logging a 2.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 21.7 K-BB% in 13 starts at High-A after logging a 3.18 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 17.2 K-BB% in eight starts for Single-A Jupiter to begin the year. White has long limbs and has struggled to throw strikes at times, but he showed impressive consistency down the stretch. He may head to Double-A for the beginning of his age-20 season, and if he throws enough strikes, he could finish 2025 as one of the game's top pitching prospects.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Moving to High-A

The Marlins promoted White from Single-A Jupiter to High-A Beloit on Monday, FishonFirst.com reports. White owned a 3.18 ERA over 34 innings with Jupiter in 2024, despite posting a 1.59 WHIP and opponents batting .274 against him. However, the southpaw also has 44 strikeouts over that span, and he'll jump to the next level alongside fellow pitching prospect Noble Meyer.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Shines in Spring Breakout game

White walked one and struck out three in a scoreless inning of work during Saturday's Spring Breakout game against the Cardinals. The 19-year-old southpaw got the start in the prospect showcase game over Noble Meyer and rewarded the Marlins' confidence in him by striking out the side, fanning both Thomas Saggese and the Cards' potential Opening Day center fielder, Victor Scott. White saw very little action in his pro debut last year after being selected 35th overall in the 2023 Draft, throwing just 3.2 innings for Single-A Jupiter, but his arsenal -- mid-90s fastball, changeup and slurvy breaking ball from a three-quarter arm slot -- could allow him to shoot up prospect lists quickly if his control and command hold up.
