Jacob Wilson hit .438 with two doubles, one walk and one strikeout in 16 at-bats during big-league spring training. He slashed .318/.378/.455 with one home run, four steals and a 10.1 percent strikeout rate in 23 games at High-A last season. An extreme hit-over-power shortstop prospect, Wilson does not project to hit for double-digit homer power in the majors, but he has an excellent hit tool and projects as Oakland's shortstop of the future.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Big game in return from IL

Wilson (knee) was reinstated from Triple-A Las Vegas' 7-day injured list and went 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs while starting at shortstop in Tuesday's 11-0 win over Sacramento. Wilson made his first appearance for Las Vegas since May 14 after a six-week absence due to knee tendinitis. Prior to rejoining Las Vegas, Wilson went 8-for-14 at the dish over five rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Begins rehab assignment

Wilson (knee) is starting a rehab assignment with the Athletics' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Monday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports. Wilson has been shelved for more than a month with knee tendinitis but is finally ready for game action. The top prospect will eventually return to Triple-A Las Vegas when the Athletics feel he's ready. • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: On IL with knee issue

Triple-A Las Vegas placed Wilson on the 7-day injured list May 18 with a minor knee issue, A's broadcaster Vince Cotroneo reports. Wilson is slashing .438/.458/.652 with three home runs, two steals and a 10.2 percent strikeout rate in 28 games across Double-A and Triple-A. His BABIP was .487 at Double-A and .409 at Triple-A, and Wilson's 16.8 percent hard-hit rate is a very poor mark for a 22-year-old in the upper levels, so while his contact skill is elite, Wilson's surface stats overstate his roto upside.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Moves up to Triple-A

The Athletics promoted Wilson from Double-A Midland to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Wilson made a mockery of Double-A pitching, slashing .455/.473/.705 with three home runs and 13 doubles in 22 games. The 22-year-old is now just one step away from the big leagues less than a year after the Athletics took him with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. Wilson doesn't project to show much power, but his hit tool has been as advertised thus far in his professional career.
