  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Decent in loss

Cameron (2-3) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.1 innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Padres. Cameron allowed a run in each of the second and third innings, but he exited down 2-1 in the sixth. This is just the second time in eight outings he's given up multiple runs, though both of those instances have been in his last three starts. He wasn't going to be purely dominant forever, and there's little reason to be concerned about his performance, though the two strikeouts Saturday matched his season low. The 25-year-old has a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 34:15 K:BB through 47.2 innings over eight starts. Cameron is tentatively projected for a tough home start versus the Dodgers in his next outing.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Notches seven Ks in no-decision

Cameron did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Athletics, yielding four hits and one walk over five scoreless innings. He struck out seven. The rookie southpaw generated a solid 13 whiffs out of his 83 total pitches to secure his third performance of six or more strikeouts in seven career starts. Cameron should continue to stick in the Kansas City rotation while Cole Ragans (shoulder) remains out; however, the Royals may have trouble removing Cameron from the starter's role even when Ragans returns considering he's now pitched to a 1.91 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 32:17 K:BB through 42.1 innings. The 25-year-old is currently scheduled to make his next start at San Diego next weekend.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Remains in rotation this week

Cameron is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Yankees. Even though the Kansas City rotation is back to full strength after Cole Ragans returned from the injured list last week, Cameron will get another start while manager Matt Quatraro has seemingly opted to move forward with a six-man starting staff for at least one more turn. The 25-year-old southpaw has had an excellent start to his big-league career with an 0.85 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 31.2 innings, though a weak 7.6 K-BB% suggests that some performance regression is likely headed his way.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Royals-Cardinals postponed

Cameron and the Royals won't play the Cardinals on Wednesday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. The two teams will play each other twice Thursday to make up for Wednesday's contest, and Cameron will get the nod for Game 1 of the doubleheader, per Anne Rogers of MLB.com. The 25-year-old southpaw has been extremely effective through his first four MLB starts, logging a 1.05 ERA and 0.82 WHIP alongside a 16:8 K:BB across 25.2 innings.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Six more innings of one-run ball

Cameron (2-1) tallied the win Wednesday against the Reds after allowing one run on six hits and two walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out two. It was notably Cameron's fourth straight start to begin his major-league career in which he fired at least six innings while yielding one run or fewer. Although the rookie left-hander conceded a season-worst six hits and fanned a season-low two, none of his six knocks went for extra bases. Cameron will take an outstanding 1.05 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB across 25.2 frames into his next scheduled outing against the Cardinals, who have an unimposing .690 OPS versus left-handed pitching in the month of May.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Continues to impress with eight Ks

Cameron didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Twins after allowing one run on four hits and one walk in 6.2 innings. He struck out eight. Cameron entered Friday with six punchouts on the season, so he more than doubled that total by fanning eight Friday. The rookie left-hander has been impressive in the major leagues so far, having fired at least six innings while giving up one run or fewer in each of his first three career starts. Cameron will tote a sparkling 0.93 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 19.1 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Reds, who have a .623 OPS versus left-handed pitching through their first 51 games.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Handed tough-luck loss

Cameron (1-1) took the loss Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and no walks over 6.1 innings against the Cardinals. He struck out three. The left-hander was called up to start Saturday in place of Seth Lugo (finger), and the rookie limited St. Louis to a Jordan Walker solo homer, which was enough to saddle him with the loss as the Royals were shut out. It was initially expected to be a spot start for Cameron, but he now appears poised to receive at least a couple turns through the rotation with Lugo and Cole Ragans (groin) placed on the injured list Saturday. Cameron has pitched exactly 6.1 frames in each of his first two MLB starts and has given up just one run on three hits with a 6:5 K:BB.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Tabbed for spot start Saturday

Cameron will be called up from Triple-A Omaha to make a spot start Saturday against the Cardinals, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports. The left-hander covered 6.1 scoreless frames in his MLB debut April 30 while Cole Ragans was banged up, and a similar situation with Seth Lugo (finger) will provide an opening for Cameron to rejoin the big-league rotation Saturday. The 25-year-old may be in store for another short stay in the majors, however, since Lugo isn't expected to require a stint on the injured list. Cameron has been pitching well at Triple-A Omaha this season with a 3.31 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 38:13 K:BB across 32.2 innings.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Optioned after impressive debut

The Royals optioned Cameron to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday. Cameron took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his major-league debut Wednesday against the Rays, ultimately tossing 6.1 scoreless frames on one hit and five walks with three strikeouts en route to picking up a win. With Cameron being sent back down to the minors, the Royals must feel good about Cole Ragans' (groin) ability to make his next start. Cameron has certainly earned the right to be first in line the next time the big club needs a starter.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Dazzles in major-league debut

Cameron (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Rays after allowing one hit and five walks in 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three. Making his major-league debut, Cameron fired six-plus innings of one-hit ball despite struggling with his control. The left-hander took a no-hit bid into the seventh frame, but Curtis Mead broke it up to bring Cameron's impressive night to an end. It's possible Wednesday was just a spot start for Cameron, as Cole Ragans (groin) has been able to avoid the injured list to this point. However, Cameron's next turn in the rotation does tentatively line up for next week versus the White Sox, who entered Wednesday ranked last in batting average (.208), so he would have plenty of streaming appeal in the event that Ragans isn't ready to start.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Recalled ahead of MLB debut

The Royals recalled Cameron from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday. Cameron is set to make his major-league debut Wednesday with a start against the Rays, filling in for the injured Cole Ragans (groin). The left-handed Cameron has posted a 3.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB in 22.1 innings through his five starts with Omaha this season. Kansas City expects Ragans to be ready for his next turn, so as things stand right now it's likely to be just a spot start for Cameron before he returns to Omaha.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: On track for MLB debut Wednesday

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Cameron will be called up from Triple-A Omaha to start Wednesday against the Rays, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Cameron will be making his MLB debut when he starts in place of Cole Ragans, who is nursing a groin strain and will be forced to miss at least one turn through the rotation. Ragans is said to have made improvement since he suffered the injury last week and is expected to avoid a stint on the IL for the time being, so Cameron could be in line for just one start before returning to the minors. A 25-year-old lefty, Cameron has turned in a 3.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB in 22.1 innings through his five starts with Omaha this season.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Contending for rotation spot

Cameron is a candidate to make the Royals' Opening Day rotation with a strong spring, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Cameron entered camp as a long shot to make the Opening Day roster, primarily due to the amount of talent the Royals already have in their big-league rotation. However, with Alec Marsh (shoulder) and Kyle Wright (shoulder/hamstring) both dealing with injuries, the competition for the fifth starter job has thinned out, opening the door for Cameron. The 25-year-old southpaw only reached Triple-A in July of last season, but he turned in a 2.32 ERA and 1.02 WHIP alongside a 62:11 K:BB in 54.1 innings over nine starts at Omaha -- good enough land a spot on Kansas City's 40-man roster this winter. He showed no signs of slowing down during his spring training debut, throwing two scoreless innings against the Rangers on Friday.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Selected to 40-man roster

The Royals selected Cameron from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. Cameron made nine starts for Triple-A Omaha after beginning the year in Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He posted a 2.32 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 54.1 innings in Omaha, tallying three wins. The 25-year-old is now shielded from the Rule 5 Draft in December.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Racking up K's at High-A

Cameron has a 4.34 ERA, 3.46 FIP, 1.10 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 29 innings across six starts for High-A Quad Cities. There is a pretty big gap between Cameron's 4.34 ERA and his 1.92 xFIP, as he is striking out batters at almost a 40 percent clip while walking batters at a 6.7 percent rate. The 23-year-old southpaw was drafted in the seventh round of the 2021 Draft while he was recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he had a successful pro debut last year. As an older lefty with a plus changeup and above-average control, High-A isn't much of a test for Cameron. His low-90s fastball velocity caps his upside, but he has starter traits and an excellent pro track record.
